Riad Ksar Fawz & Spa Overview

You know what struck me first about Riad Ksar Fawz & Spa? The fact that it’s tucked away in this maze of narrow alleys in the Kasbah district where even my taxi driver had to ask for directions twice. I mean, finding derb sbaia 2 isn’t exactly straightforward – but honestly, that’s part of the charm. Once you’re there, you realize you’ve stumbled onto something pretty special that most tourists rushing between the main square and the souks will never see.

The riad itself feels like stepping into someone’s beautifully restored family home, which I suppose it probably was at some point. The traditional courtyard design actually works – it’s this cool, quiet refuge where you can hear the fountain trickling and maybe some distant call to prayer, but none of the motorbike chaos from the streets outside. The spa side of things surprised me too; it’s not just some afterthought wellness center they tacked on. They’ve got this proper hammam experience that locals would actually use, and the massage therapists know their stuff. I went in the late afternoon when it was quieter, and it was exactly what I needed after getting lost in the medina for three hours straight.

What really sets this place apart though – and maybe why it’s pulling that 9.4 rating – is how the staff treats you. They’re not hovering or overly formal, but they seem to actually care about whether you’re having a good time. The guy at reception drew me a little map showing the back routes to Jemaa el-Fnaa that avoid the main tourist crush, and he was right – it cut my walking time in half. The rooftop terrace gives you these glimpses of the Atlas Mountains on clear days, and it’s where I ended up spending most evenings with mint tea, watching the city settle into that golden hour light. Sure, it’s not the fanciest four-star you’ll ever see, and the WiFi can be spotty in some rooms, but there’s something authentic about staying here that you just don’t get at those big resort hotels outside the medina walls. If you’re the type who wants to actually experience Marrakech rather than just Instagram it, this is your spot.

  • Superb – Freya from United Kingdom – 9 July 2025 (9/10)

Amazing room and rooftop. The staff went above and beyond

What could be improved: The spa treatment was the opposite of clean and relaxing

  • Exceptional – Patricia from Australia – 8 July 2025 (10/10)

Everything, beautiful interiors, colourful, great food, and the staff were exceptionally helpful. Loved my stay here.

  • A+ Staff, Service, Lodging and Location!! – Emily from United States – 1 July 2025 (10/10)

The staff was SO KIND and SO HELPFUL to us! It was our first stop on our trip, and our favorite riad that we stayed at. The location from the medina is perfect, because it is all walkable and felt so very safe. It was nice because it was quiet and relaxing, yet so close to all of the places in Marakesh you would want to visit. We also got a massage while we were there, which was also pheneomenal.

We also appreciated the expansive menu to order from. It was very diverse and the best of all riads we had been to.

What could be improved: Everything was wonderful, but would suggest adding lighting to the rooms as they are a bit dark.

  • Exceptional – Magdalena from United Kingdom – 1 July 2025 (10/10)

Me and my friend really enjoyed everything about this place, staff was super friendly and genuinely helpful. Very interesting people, with their own story who are ready to help you whenever you need it. The place was clean, beds were very comfortable, we loved the traditional interior. Most of the tourists attractions are within walking distance, hotel is located right next to traditional Moroccan market which is great to see and shop at.

What could be improved: I don't think there were any issues, therefore I would always recommend this place to anyone who wanted to visit Marrakech, our experience was very good and we wouldn't swap it for anything else.

  • Amazing Riad with the best staff ever! – Anna from Portugal – 25 June 2025 (10/10)

The Riad is beautiful, well decorated and super comfortable.
But the star of the show here is the staff. They are all incredible!
Special thanks to chefs Leila and Fatima for the incredible food, to Mohamed for being so amazing to us, and for Abdul for serving us with so much love!

What could be improved: Honestly nothing to complain about.

  • Will definitely be back!!! – Yazmin from United Kingdom – 19 June 2025 (10/10)

Amazing location. Breakfast was so delicious. The staff were so friendly I would come back just for the staff!

  • Very pleasant super staff, all good – Christopher from United Kingdom – 14 June 2025 (8/10)

We liked the uniqueness of the building along with its fixtures and fittings.
Well located for the markets and other attractions.

What could be improved: Nothing at all

  • Exceptional – John from United Kingdom – 12 June 2025 (10/10)

Photos do not do it justice. The people that work there are so polite and will go above and beyond for you.

What could be improved: Nothing not to like. Lovely traditional stay. The markets surrounding it take a little getting used to but the people that work there walk you in and out which is great
