Riad La Rose Orientale Marrakech Overview

So you know how riads in Marrakech can be hit or miss? Well, Riad La Rose Orientale is honestly one of those places that gets it right. I mean, when you first walk down Derb Sidi Bouamer – and yes, you’ll need those GPS coordinates because the medina’s labyrinth doesn’t mess around – you’re wondering if you took a wrong turn. But that’s the thing about this quartier, it’s tucked away in Riad Laarouss where you get that authentic neighborhood vibe without the tourist circus of Jemaa el-Fna breathing down your neck.

The moment you step through those heavy wooden doors, there’s this immediate sense of… I don’t know, exhale? The central courtyard does that thing where the temperature drops about ten degrees, and you can actually hear the fountain over the medina’s background hum. The architecture isn’t trying too hard to be Instagram-perfect – it’s just genuinely beautiful in that worn-in way that makes you want to curl up with mint tea and lose track of time. The staff actually remembers your name (not just for the first day, either), and they’ve got this knack for reading when you want to chat about Marrakech’s hidden gems versus when you just want to disappear into your room.

Speaking of rooms, they’re spacious enough that you’re not playing luggage Tetris, and the beds are legitimately comfortable – not just “good for Morocco” comfortable. The bathrooms have proper water pressure, which, let’s be honest, isn’t always a given in medina riads. You’ll hear the call to prayer from the nearby mosque, but it’s more atmospheric than disruptive, and the thick walls keep most of the street sounds at bay. The rooftop terrace is where you’ll end up spending more time than planned, especially around sunset when the Atlas Mountains start doing their pink-and-gold thing on the horizon. They serve breakfast up there too, and it’s the kind of spread where you keep discovering new little dishes – proper Moroccan pastries, not just croissants trying to pass as local cuisine.

What really sets this place apart is how it feels lived-in rather than staged. The 9.4 rating makes sense when you realize it’s not just about thread count or marble surfaces – it’s about those small touches that show someone actually cares. Like how they’ll arrange your taxi to the airport without the usual medina markup, or how the evening lighting creates these perfect little reading nooks throughout the common areas. The location works brilliantly because you’re close enough to walk to the main souks (maybe fifteen minutes through streets that locals actually use), but far enough away that you’re not dealing with aggressive vendors every time you step outside. It’s the kind of place where you start planning your return visit before you’ve even checked out.

Reviews of Riad La Rose Orientale Marrakech

  • Exceptional – Huang from France – 9 May 2025 (10/10)

Great location, located in the heart of the Medina. Minutes away by foot from the big Jemaa El Fna square and other main attractions. Countless souks around the property. A great way to discover local culture.

We especially want to call out the hospitality and kindness of Larcène (sorry if I spelled his name wrong). He is extremely helpful, always in good mood, and looks out for us. We can't express enough our gratitude.

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Wonderful riad with incredible hospitality, food and location – Mikael from Sweden – 27 April 2025 (10/10)

We had a wonderful 3-night stay at Riad La Rose Orientale. It really was the perfect place to start our 9 day visit to Morocco and we were in good hands from the minute their driver picked us up at the airport. The manager (Lasan) and entire staff were so kind and helpful, and always went out of their way to make us our two young children feel right at home. Breakfast in the beautiful courtyard was a highlight, with a variety of delicious options and incredibly attentive service. The location is quiet and safe and well situated for exploring the medina by foot. We can't wait to stay here again next time we're in Marrakesh!

What could be improved: The pool wasn't heated so we were unable to enjoy it during our visit in early spring.

  • Beautiful rooms! – Kristina from Denmark – 4 April 2025 (10/10)

    Amazing!!!

We stayed for a couple of nights, and we loved it. Delicious breakfast. Clean and beautiful rooms. Very hospitable people working there, they were so nice, especially this one guy (we didn’t catch his name) But he made our stay much more enjoyable. So thank you!

  • A fantastic first experience in Marrakesh. Would highly recommend this beautiful Road – Serena from United Kingdom – 25 March 2025 (10/10)

Great location, beautiful and clean rooms, good breakfast and fabulous attentive staff

What could be improved: It was a little bit difficult to find – perhaps another sign at the entrance of the turning?

  • We had a great stay in Marrakesh amd thanks to our host our little vacation was very relaxing and peaceful!❤️ We don’t h – Teodor from Romania – 25 March 2025 (10/10)

Everything was very clean and the workers were really friendly and helped us with everything about the city. Also the property helped us with the airport transfers, really professional.

What could be improved: I liked everything!

  • Great location. Comfortable hotel – Lynne from United Kingdom – 20 March 2025 (9/10)

The staff were brilliant. Very helpful

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • We booked based mainly on previous reviews and were not disappointed. – Martin from United Kingdom – 13 March 2025 (9/10)

The position of the hotel is within the thriving old town however, the narrow pedestrian walkway that the hotel entrance is off is extremely quiet and so you are detached from the chaos and fun of the old town, but only 3 minutes from walking straight into it. The small rooftop area gives clear views across the rooftops of the buildings around the town and considering how close you are to some of the action (so to speak) it is very peaceful up there.

The owner/staff were extremely helpful, attentive and friendly and made us feel very welcome from the minute we arrived until we left.

Our room was very comfortable with all of the necessary facilities apart from a seat/settee which we had thought might be in there but it was no big deal as we got up and had breakfast, went out and got back late in the evening.

Breakfast was very nice and enough to set you up for the day, the hotel was very clean, very well presented and basically it was a great place to be and to then go out and explore the town.

We are unlikely to re-visit Marrakech as we like to try different places however, if we did we would re-book here without hesitation.

What could be improved: This is not a complaint or negative comment but in our searching for a Riad to stay in we looked at loads and the choosing of this one came on the back of the many previous positive reviews along with us seeing that it had a pool. It does have a pool, however, it is only a dipping pool and not one that you could swim in but, as it happens we would not have had the time to use it anyway. It would be a great place to cool down on a hot day (we were there in cooler temperatures)

  • Exceptional – Jebha from United States – 26 February 2025 (10/10)

Very comfortable stay with wonderful host Lahsane and a delicious breakfast. Very close to the souks and other major sites; was able to walk everywhere. And felt very safe. Definitely recommend

  • Riad excellent—great location, welcoming and attentive staff. well maintained, clean room – Michela from Italy – 26 February 2025 (10/10)

  • A truly recomendable stay – Chulhee from Spain – 24 February 2025 (9/10)
