RIAD LE M neuf et contemporain Overview
Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of riads in Marrakech over the years, and honestly? RIAD LE M neuf et contemporain caught me completely off guard. You know how most traditional riads make you feel like you’re stepping back in time – well, this place flips that script entirely. Walking through that heavy wooden door on Derb Ezzamouri (which, by the way, is tucked just deep enough into the medina that you feel properly lost but not actually panicked), you’re hit with this incredible contrast between old and new that somehow just works.
The thing about this riad is that they’ve managed to keep all the architectural bones that make Marrakech magical – the central courtyard, the traditional layout, those gorgeous tile details – but then they’ve layered in this sleek, contemporary design that feels more like a boutique hotel in Copenhagen than Morocco. I mean, the furniture is clean-lined and modern, the lighting is sophisticated, and everything feels carefully curated without being sterile. It’s sort of like someone took a classic riad and gave it a really thoughtful makeover. The rooms are spacious (rare in the medina, trust me), and the beds are actually comfortable – not something I can say about every place I’ve crashed in the old city. What really got me though was how quiet it is at night. You’re close enough to the main souks that you can walk there in about eight minutes, but the specific little alley it’s on doesn’t get the late-night foot traffic that can keep you up.
Honestly, the 9.8 rating makes perfect sense once you’ve been there. The staff genuinely knows their stuff about Marrakech – they pointed me toward this incredible little pottery workshop near Bab Debbagh that I never would have found otherwise, and their restaurant recommendations were spot-on (skip the tourist traps near Jemaa el-Fnaa and head where they tell you). The rooftop terrace is where you’ll want to spend your evenings, especially during sunset when the Atlas Mountains do that thing where they turn pink and purple. They serve traditional mint tea up there, but the whole vibe is relaxed and contemporary rather than trying too hard to be “authentic.” Check-in was seamless too – they actually met me at the main road since finding the exact entrance can be tricky your first time, which shows they get what travelers need. If you’re looking for that perfect sweet spot between experiencing real medina life and having a comfortable, stylish base to come back to, this place nails it.

Reviews of RIAD LE M neuf et contemporain
Das Riad ist wunderschön, wir waren sehr zufrieden. – Marc from Germany – 1 June 2025 (10/10)
Exceptional stay. Highly recommend – Richard from United Kingdom – 12 May 2025 (10/10)
The breakfast was beautifully served every morning. A lovely selection of breads etc. Traditional breakfast. However we did comment some nice fresh fruit from the wonderful market on our doorstep would have made it even better. The rooms, beds everything was top notch. Stayed with all our family age 75 to 12. Suited all of us. Highly recommend
What could be improved: It Was perfect.A Real Treasure in Marrakech – Jacqueline from United Kingdom – 2 April 2025 (10/10)
We arranged to be picked up by the host which was great, they also arranged to take our cases to the Riad as the car is not able to go that far. When we arrived we were warmly greeted by Saloua and here husband and were made to feel so welcome despite the fact that we arrived early as our rooms were still being cleaned. We were given Moroccan mint tea and some delicious sweet pastries very welcome after our travel so we didn't mind waiting. All the bedrooms were fantastic and so clean. I just loved the way the Riad was set out so comfortable to chat away once we got back after our day out. The terrace was so peaceful to be able to relax with the plunge pool. One thing we all loved was how quiet it was once off the main street the noise just disappeared. I would 100% stay again.

Great location, comfortable bedding, super breakfast prepared be the local lady doing the housing. Owner and the hosts are very friendly, we had everything to feel comfort while staying in Marrakesh.
Exceptional – Rebecca from Ireland – 9 February 2025 (10/10)
The Riad is simply beautiful, and spotless.
Everything in it is of a high standard.
Saloua and her husband greeted us warmly and made us feel very at home.
Saloua made us breakfast every morning, at a time that suited us and did the necessary housework, a big bonus.
They are a truly lovely couple and answered any questions we had, ordered taxis for us to and from the airport.
They really did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable.
The Riad itself, is as beautiful as it is in the photos.
Having bedrooms that are all ensuite for a family of six adults, was ideal.
The roof terrace is a haven from the hustle and bustle of the Medina, a real luxury.
There is nothing negative I could say about staying here.
It was a wonderful place to return to after a busy day.

We really had an incredible stay at the Riad, the house was absolutely gorgeous. We came as a group of friends and had the best time ever. All small details were thought of and the breakfast each morning made by Saloua was great to wake up to. The hosts were very easy to contact and offered help wherever they could. This has been my third time to Marrakech and can say that this has been one of the nicest places to stay, look forward to coming back in the future!
Salou and Zachrayia are (wife and husband. Saloua would arrived at 8am everyday and would ask us what we would like for – Jasveer from United Kingdom – 7 June 2024 (10/10)
Okay …. Where to start, let’s start at the beginning.
Travelled with my young family of 5, including my sister and brothers other half’s so in total it was 9. Although the Riad is for 8 people 3×2 double bedrooms and downstairs it has 2x single beds, we got in touch with Lea at the beginning to mention that our youngest sleeps with us still as she is 2 years old, and Lea had no issues and even left her baby crib for us.
This Riad is exceptional for the value and money. Its is recently renovated 2023 November and we visited 31st May-7th June 2024.
This Riad is situated only a 20 minute walking distance from the main Median souk Markets. We visited a few times to see the snake charmers and buy some local garments.
But this Riad is situated near * Babadukala mosque if you say this very taxi driver knows its. I say near because you can’t drive directly to the Riad, you can take a moped/scooter but not a car. This means it’s roughly 3 minute walk from the Babadukala mosque. It’s walking through the hustle and bustle of the daily life’s of the Marrakesh people and markets which a nice thing to be in the midst of to make the experience that overall more authentic.
* prior to arrival Lea send a actual WhatsApp video showing how you walk from her mosque to the Riad.
I would advise that you speak to Lea to organise some local men to have the suitcase carried services should you have a big family like ours with many suitcases. This will cost 50 dirhams or €5 for the drop off
What could be improved: It’s was very contemporary yet classic Morroco vibes. It’s extremely pleasant and nice space, we loved the bedrooms, the ground floor entertainment area. But the roof terrace with the plumb pool and eating areas was amazing! At night it’s so bliss!!Book it, you won’t be disappointed! – Tom from United Kingdom – 13 May 2024 (10/10)
The place was stunning, super clean and spacious! The location is great too, only a short walk to the centre of the Medina.
The host Saloua was amazing, super accommodating and did everything she could to make our stay special and at home.EXCELLENT! – Jestle from United Kingdom – 17 March 2024 (10/10)
We like how kind and accommodating the caretaker was. And the villa is so beautiful and clean!!! ++ it smells very good too! highly recommend! 🤍
