Riad le Voile d’Orient Overview

You know what really caught me off guard about Riad le Voile d’Orient? The complete silence the moment you step inside. I mean, you’re literally steps away from the chaos of Derb Lalla Chacha – and honestly, that little street can get pretty hectic during the day with all the donkey carts and tourists trying to navigate with Google Maps (which, by the way, is basically useless once you’re deep in the medina). But the second that heavy wooden door closes behind you, it’s like someone hit the mute button on Marrakech.

The riad itself is one of those places that actually lives up to its 9.3 rating, which is saying something because I’ve stayed in plenty of “highly rated” places that turned out to be all hype. The courtyard is gorgeous – proper traditional tiles, not the fake stuff you see in some of the newer places trying too hard to look authentic. There’s this fountain in the center that’s not too loud (you can still have a conversation), and the orange trees smell incredible in the evening. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star riad – thick walls that keep things cool, decent bathrooms, and beds that are actually comfortable. Some of the smaller riads in the area have these rock-hard mattresses that’ll wreck your back, but they’ve got it figured out here.

What I really appreciate is how they handle the whole “getting lost in the medina” situation. The staff actually walks first-time guests back to the main souks instead of just giving you vague directions like “turn left at the lamp shop” (because there are, what, about fifty lamp shops?). And they’re smart about timing – they’ll tell you when the alleyways get crowded and when it’s better to just chill at the riad. The location puts you close enough to Jemaa el-Fnaa that you can walk there in maybe ten minutes if you know where you’re going, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the drumming and crowds all night. Actually, one of the best parts of staying here is coming back after a long day of haggling in the souks and just collapsing on one of those low couches they have around the courtyard. They serve this mint tea that’s sweet enough to put you in a coma, but in the best way possible. The whole place has this worn-in feeling – like it’s been here forever but someone’s been taking really good care of it. It’s not trying to be the fanciest riad in Marrakech, but it gets all the important stuff right.

Reviews of Riad le Voile d’Orient

  • Lovely experience, I will return – Gillian from United Kingdom – 13 April 2025 (9/10)

The property was in a quiet location but only a short walk from the Souk. It was very clean and calm inside. The staff were attentive, friendly and helpful. The bed was firm but suited me well.
Hot water in the shower was a bit erratic but ok.

There are ground floor rooms which is good for anyone who can’t manage steep steps. The roof terrace was a lovely place to relax and enjoy some sunshine.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Riad le Voile d'Orient in Marrakech, and it was an excellent experiencefrom start to finish. The Riad itself is beautiful, spacious, and wonderfully decorated, creating a perfect blend of traditional charm and modern comfort.

A special mention goes to Anas, one of our hosts, who went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect. His dedication and attention to detail truly made a difference. Mohammed was also incredibly helpful, kind, and supportive throughout our stay. Additionally, the new staff member, "Ali", was very attentive and made sure we were always happy and comfortable.

Overall, our time at Riad le Voile d'Orient was amazing, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Marrakech. The hospitality and ambiance are unmatched

  • Absolutely stunning accommodation with amazing staff. – Paul from United Kingdom – 22 February 2025 (10/10)

Everything was amazing from the moment we arrived until we left. Mouhamed and the team couldn’t have done enough for us. Breakfast was lovely and fresh. We ate in the Riad on our second night and the food was fabulous. Perfect location as we were amongst the old alleyways and could walk to the main square in 10 minutes. Our entire experience was so good that we have already booked to return in October.

The personnel was really nice and friendly. It gives you a feeling that you are in a friend’s house not in a hotel.
Rooms were really clean and they cleaned it every day and the breakfast was delicious. There was a bird singing in the patio, beautiful rooftop.

What could be improved: Nothing just we already missed them !
