You know what caught me off guard about Riad Les Gazelles D’Orient? The moment you step through that heavy wooden door on Lalla Aouich, the chaos of the medina just… disappears. I mean, you’re literally a five-minute walk from Jemaa el-Fnaa – close enough to hear the evening drums if you really listen – but inside this riad, it’s like entering someone’s beautifully kept secret.

The thing about staying in the medina is that most places feel like they’re trying too hard to be “authentic,” but this one actually gets it right. The courtyard has this gorgeous fountain that’s not just for show (honestly, the sound of water is perfect for drowning out any early morning calls to prayer if you’re a light sleeper), and the rooms are arranged around it in that classic riad style. What I loved was how they’ve kept all the traditional elements – the tadelakt walls, the carved cedar, those incredible geometric tiles – without making it feel like a museum. The rooms are actually comfortable, with proper air conditioning that works, which, let me tell you, matters a lot during summer months.

The staff here really know their stuff about navigating the medina. They’ll draw you little maps to avoid the tourist traps near the souks, and they actually give you honest advice about haggling – not just the usual “oh, bargain hard” nonsense. Plus, breakfast on the rooftop terrace is pretty spectacular. You can see the Atlas Mountains on clear days, and it’s one of those spots where you can watch the medina wake up without being in the thick of it. The only small thing I’d mention is that the wifi can be spotty in some rooms (typical for these old buildings with thick walls), but honestly, that might be a blessing in disguise. The location on Lalla Aouich is perfect too – it’s in the heart of things but on a quieter street, so you’re not dealing with constant mule traffic or tour groups marching past your door all day. That 9.6 rating makes total sense when you experience how smoothly everything runs here.

  The Riad was beautiful and very peaceful, perfect to chill after a busy day exploring the chaotic medina.
  Everything was very clean and everyday the staff would come and tidy up our room- every detail was considered.
  The highlight of our stay were the people who worked there. Firstly Adam was very kind and gave us amazing tips as soon as we arrived and even helping us buy a SIM card for internet. We also gave us great tips of the surroundings, restaurants recommendations and explain us how things work in the medina.
  Fatima and the other ladies were amazing too – very warm and kind when serving breakfast.
  And the owners Christelle and Daniel were very friendly and make sure we were happy with everything. They also gave us great recommendations and booked us a taxi in advance from and to the airport.
  For last, the taxi driver – Amid – recommended by the Riad was very kind too and helpful.
  A trip to remember and will be definitely coming back 🙂

  It's almost a week since we came back from Marrakech, but the aura of it is still with us. And the big part of this impression is coming from our stay in this Riad. The owners Christelle and Daniel had created the atmosphere like you are at home, like you had known this place and these people. Adam, the manager, met as at the taxi doors and kept assisting us with resolving of our daily, small issues and questions very professionally. I could go on and on with my warm words about this place, already feeling that I'm missing this place and people.

  Beautiful and clean with the most amazing staff. Adam, Fatima and Nuhali treated us all with kindness, respect and took such great care of us.

  I had the best three days staying at Riad Les Gazelles D'Orient. The hospitality I experienced was exceptional and blew my expectations and more! I first met the manager, Adam, as I arrived late in the evening and he had already prepared me Moroccan tea and biscuits for my arrival after meeting me outside the Riad and showing me the way through Marrakech's confusing streets! I loved how welcoming and informative he was, by showing me the easiest routes to take, attractions to see and how to travel safely.
  
  I met the lovely owners of the Riad the next morning, Daniel and Christelle, who really made me feel more like a family member rather than a guest during my entire stay. Daniel and Christelle kindly walked me through the maze of Marrakech towards the medina which was a great touch, especially for me as a solo traveller. Just such a lovely and kind couple. The maid and the chef in the Riad were lovely ladies who always greet you with a warm welcome – oh and the breakfast is awesome too! The room itself was perfect, the bed was super comfy and I slept like baby each night.
  
  I really enjoyed Marrakech, but staying at this Riad most definitely made my experience x10 better. I have to give particular thanks to Adam for being so helpful each day and night, ensuring I was comfortable, giving me great recommendations for food and even taking me for lunch at a traditional restaurant for some tanjia.

  The owners are absolutely fantastic and will truly go above and beyond to ensure you have a fantastic time. All the staff is caring and attentive and also very knowledgeable about the area. They can offer recommendations for your holiday based on what you are looking for to ensure its memorable.
  My elderly father stayed with them and he was looked after from the moment he arrived at the airport.
  Thank you all for being so wonderful! I can't speak highly enough and hope to go back and stay here one day!
