Riad l’Heure d’Eté Overview

Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of riads in Marrakech, and honestly, most of them feel like they’re trying too hard to be something they’re not. But Riad l’Heure d’Eté? This place actually gets it right. It’s tucked away on Sidi Bouloukat – you know, that winding street that’s close enough to Jemaa el-Fnaa that you can hear the evening drums but far enough that you’re not dealing with the constant chaos of tourists trying to find their way back to the main square at midnight.

The thing about this riad is that it feels lived-in, if that makes sense. The courtyard has this beautiful fountain (naturally), but the tilework around it has these tiny imperfections that somehow make it more charming, not less. I mean, you’re not staying in a museum here – you’re staying in someone’s carefully restored home. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star place, nothing revolutionary, but the details matter. The bathroom actually has good water pressure (trust me, this isn’t a given in the medina), and the bed was comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been sleeping on a stack of vintage carpets. What really impressed me was how quiet it gets at night – even with all the narrow alleyways echoing sounds, once you’re in your room with the heavy wooden doors closed, it’s surprisingly peaceful.

The staff here actually knows the neighborhood, which sounds obvious but you’d be surprised how many places just hire people who commute in from the new city. When I asked about finding a particular spice shop my friend had recommended, the guy at reception didn’t just point me toward the main souks – he gave me these specific directions through back alleys that saved me probably an hour of wandering around lost. And breakfast? Well, it’s served on the rooftop terrace where you can see the Atlas Mountains on clear days, which happened more often than I expected in October. The whole experience feels authentic without being precious about it, if you know what I mean. Sure, the 8.3 rating isn’t going to blow anyone away, but honestly, that feels about right – it’s a really solid choice that won’t disappoint you, especially if you want to feel like you’re actually staying in the medina rather than just visiting it.

Reviews of Riad l’Heure d’Eté

  • Superb – Kristina from Sweden – 23 March 2025 (9/10)

Cozy place, very pleasant and helpfull staff.

  • Friendly & very helpful staffs. The rooms are cleaned everyday & the Riad was very peaceful – Suzy from United Kingdom – 15 February 2025 (9/10)

Location was fantastic, near the Square & souks. Plenty of places to dine in

  • Peaceful and Great Location – Gary from United Kingdom – 1 February 2025 (9/10)

Great location, nice staff, excellent breakfast, nice room which was cleaned daily.

What could be improved: Suite showed dropped canopy over bed on photo, was not in room.

Breakfast to start at 8.30, but cook arrives at 8.30. Not an issue unless you need to be out by 9am which we did twice. He did rush to accommodate.

Water on arrival, but no top ups on other days. Would have been a nice touch.

  • Good overall for the location. – Nguyen from United States – 21 June 2024 (7/10)

The location is great! It is within walking distance to most tourist attractions in Marakech. The room is a bit dark with windows opening into the courtyard, so we had that closed most of the time, and because of it, our room did feel a little stuffy and moldy.

What could be improved: There is undisclosed city tax that will be added on top when you check out. And they prefer that in cash. \_(-.-)_/ You may be able to find some better deals a bit further away from the old city.

  • Very good – Martha from United States – 27 May 2024 (8/10)

Nice staff everyone was very nice

What could be improved: What I did not liked was, that I made the reservation for $284.81 and paid for thru Booking.com I was supposed to pay city tax at the Riad when I arrived I was told by Senaa the receptionist that I need to pay $16.24 for city tax and she charged my card $336.96 I have been trying to get reimburse but I was told via WhatsApp to contact Booking.com because no money was withdrawn. I contacted booking.com twice already and keep getting an automated message to send copies of all receipts which I did already twice, and it has been over 1wk and nothing has been done by either party. BEWARE WHEN THEY ASK TO COLLECT THE CITY TAX AT THE RIAD.

  • Very good – Hannah from Portugal – 3 May 2024 (8/10)

Perfect location near to everything but very quiet to stay great for a good nights sleep.

  • Superb – Marites from Italy – 19 April 2024 (9/10)

The staff are so helpful and kind. The location is near to all retaurant and square.

  • Traditional, clean Riad in an unbeatable location to visit main Marrakesh attractions. – Niki from Greece – 13 March 2024 (9/10)

Clean, traditional, beautiful Riad in an excellent location (Medina around the corner and rest of the attractions in walkable distance. Staff willing to help and help with arranging transfer to the airport.

    What could be improved: None

  • Steps from main square – Rita from Ireland – 10 March 2024 (8/10)

Pretty room. Excellent location for medina!

What could be improved: Walk down alleys to reach it.

  • It’s very good & clean hotel & safe hotel in the heart of Marrakesh! The staff is extremely helpful and kind! – Andrea from Slovakia – 10 March 2024 (9/10)

Cleannesses, spaciousness🥳, the staff of the hotel.

What could be improved: Almost the same version of breakfast, I’d appreciate a little of vegetables. At least
No ability to pay with a card at the reception
Hammam didn’t work and I got that notice on the same day.
