Riad Livia Marrakech – Adults Only Overview

You know, I’ve walked past dozens of riads in Marrakech’s medina over the years, but Riad Livia caught my attention for all the right reasons. Tucked away on Derb el Arsa – which honestly feels like a maze until you get your bearings – this adults-only spot sits in one of those perfect pockets where you’re deep enough in the medina to feel authentic but not so buried that you’ll panic about finding your way back to Jemaa el-Fnaa. The entrance is pretty unassuming (most riads are, actually), but once that heavy wooden door closes behind you, it’s like someone turned down the volume on the entire city. The courtyard hits you immediately – not massive, but intimate in that way that makes you want to claim a corner with a book and just… exist there for a while.

What really gets me about this place is how they’ve nailed that balance between traditional Moroccan style and modern comfort without feeling like they’re trying too hard. The rooms have those gorgeous tadelakt walls – you know, that polished plaster that feels almost silky when you run your hand across it – and the bathroom situation is actually impressive, which matters more than you’d think after a long day navigating the souks. I mean, the hot water pressure alone puts some fancy hotels to shame. The rooftop terrace becomes your best friend, especially in the evenings when the call to prayer echoes across the medina and you can see the Atlas Mountains catching the last light. During the day it gets pretty warm up there (well, it’s Morocco), but mornings and evenings are pure magic.

Here’s the thing about staying in this part of the medina – you’re about a ten-minute walk from the main square, which means you can easily duck back for a rest when the afternoon heat gets intense or when you need a break from the sensory overload that is the souks. The staff actually knows the neighborhood, so they’ll point you toward the good hammam on Rue Bab Doukkala or tell you which spice vendor won’t try to sell you saffron that’s obviously just turmeric. The adults-only policy keeps things peaceful – no kids running around the central courtyard, no family drama at breakfast. Speaking of breakfast, they serve it whenever you want it, which is brilliant when you’re dealing with jet lag or had a late night exploring the medina’s restaurant scene. It’s not revolutionary food, but it’s solid and they make proper coffee, not just instant stuff. Honestly, for a 4-star riad with a 9.4 rating, Riad Livia delivers exactly what you’d hope for – that authentic medina experience without sacrificing comfort or your sanity.

Reviews of Riad Livia Marrakech – Adults Only

  • Absolutely wonderful and Incredible staff – Emily from United Kingdom – 7 July 2025 (10/10)

The Riad was so peaceful and beautiful. It’s amazing how different it is compared to the area its in, full of noise. The smells and coolness of the Riad when you walked in were amazing every time we came back from being out. Incredible

What could be improved: We were in the Ground Floor Fountain Room which didn’t get any natural light, this was okay but some lighting around the mirror for makeup would’ve been perfect, apart from that – everything was wonderful

  • Perfect Riad in the Medina – Natalie from United Kingdom – 24 June 2025 (10/10)

The staff are amazing, they went above and beyond to make sure we had the best time – gave recommendations of what to do, sorted an early breakfast for us, told us about how the food was sourced and prepared, sorted taxis etc and they were so friendly!
The hotel itself is a lovely, calm oasis in the medina – it’s the perfect place to escape. The room is large and cool and the rooftop pool is ideal after a day in the souks or an excursion. Really recommend having dinner on the rooftop – the food is homemade and it is a lovely location for dinner.

What could be improved: Nothing – it is perfect

  • a gorgeous retreat in amongst the beautiful chaos of the bustling Medina. The walk to and from the Riad to the main squa – Sarah from United Kingdom – 20 June 2025 (10/10)

beautiful – attention to detail – but the best thing was the staff

What could be improved: the bathroom could do with an extra light when getting ready to go out as it was very dark

  • Truly amazing stay! – Kirstin from United Kingdom – 7 June 2025 (10/10)

The Riad was gorgeous and had all the facilities needed. The staff were so kind and helpful.

What could be improved: There was nothing to dislike!

  • Excellent Riad with fantastic staff. – Danielle from United Kingdom – 14 May 2025 (10/10)

The Riad itself is beautiful, lovely rooftop pool for cooling off in after a day exploring. The hotel is spotless and the lady that cleans it never stops! The staff are what really make this place. They couldn’t be more helpful, organising taxis, making thyme tea for one of the group when they became unwell and so on.

Breakfast was lovely and they also organised a cake for breakfast one morning for a birthday we were celebrating.

It’s about a 10/15 minute walk into the main square and souks. It is worth noting that you won’t be able to get dropped out right outside the door so bear that in mind you will have to walk with your luggage. This is common for most Riad’s due to how they are located in the narrow streets of the medina.

  • Fantastic riad, very central, excellent food and a roof top pool – Jenny from United Kingdom – 13 May 2025 (10/10)

The location was excellent – walking distance to the centre, loved the little pool on the roof, the breakfasts were amazing and the staff were so helpful

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Charming Riad with the friendliest staff and a gorgeous rooftop – Alexa from France – 6 May 2025 (10/10)

The staff at Riad Livia were simply incredible – they went well out of their way to make our stay effortless and special. The hotel itself is charming and thoughtfully decorated, with a beautiful rooftop terrasse. Breakfast was delicious.

  • Beautiful place, amazing staff! – Teny from Greece – 3 May 2025 (10/10)

Worlds cannot explain the beauty of this place! Our room was amazingly decorated and super clean. Food is fantastic as well if you would like to enjoy your breakfast or dinner at the Riad.

  • Exceptional – Aliviana from United States – 28 April 2025 (10/10)

Great location, stunning property, unbelievably helpful and friendly staff. Everyone consistently goes above and beyond to make your stay wonderful. We booked a nonrefundable stay and when Wizz air changed our flights, the riad immediately refunded us the night we lost without us even asking. Breakfast on the terrace each morning was a dream. We booked the El Ciel room, which opens directly onto the roof, and loved the convenience of being right by the pool.

  • We loved the place and the staff were exceptional – William from United Kingdom – 25 April 2025 (10/10)

    Fantastic place. Exceptional staff. Brilliant.
