Riad Malida Marrakech Overview
You know what hit me first when I walked into Riad Malida? The smell – and I mean that in the best way possible. It’s this incredible mix of cedar wood, rose petals, and something I can’t quite put my finger on (maybe orange blossom?). The whole place feels like stepping into someone’s beautifully curated home rather than a hotel, which honestly is exactly what you want from a riad in the medina.
The location on Derb El Arsa is pretty genius actually. You’re deep enough in Kennaria to feel like you’re really experiencing authentic Marrakech – I mean, you’ll hear the call to prayer echoing off the narrow walls and catch glimpses of daily life that tourists staying in Gueliz never see. But here’s the thing that surprised me: it’s not one of those riads where you need a GPS and three locals to find your way back after dinner. The little alley is just winding enough to feel mysterious without being a complete maze. I actually started recognizing the bread vendor on the corner after day two, which felt like a small victory.
What really sets this place apart though is how they’ve nailed that balance between traditional Moroccan architecture and modern comfort. The rooms have these gorgeous tadelakt walls (that’s the traditional lime plaster technique – super smooth and almost luminous), but you’ll also find proper air conditioning and surprisingly good WiFi. The courtyard is where you’ll probably spend most of your time when you’re not out exploring – there’s this fountain that creates just enough ambient sound to drown out the scooters zipping past outside, and the orange trees provide perfect shade for afternoon mint tea. Speaking of which, their tea service is exceptional. Not just good – I’m talking about tea that makes you understand why Moroccans take this ritual so seriously.
The staff here actually knows the medina inside and out, which is rarer than you’d think. When I mentioned wanting to find a specific type of ceramic tile, Rashid at the front desk didn’t just point me toward the main souks – he drew me a little map to a workshop tucked away near Bab Doukkala where his cousin works. That’s the kind of local knowledge that can make or break a trip. Also, they’re incredibly flexible about check-in times, which is clutch when you’re dealing with Morocco’s… let’s call them “creative” flight schedules.
I’ll be honest – this isn’t the place if you want a pool or a gym or room service until 2 AM. But if you’re looking for an authentic base in the heart of old Marrakech, with genuine hospitality and that magical riad atmosphere, Malida really delivers. The 9.4 rating makes total sense once you’re there. Just pack light – those medina alleys weren’t designed for rolling suitcases, and you’ll thank yourself later.

What could be improved: Nothing to complain about.A welcoming and beautiful riad – Aliyah from United Kingdom – 22 June 2025 (10/10)
A beautiful riad in the heart of the medina yet in a peaceful alley way. The host ayoub and the rest of the team make you feel very welcome and are the highlight of our stay. Breakfast is traditional and on the beautiful terrace. The rooms are clean and the riad is well maintained. They helped us in storing our luggage when we had a late flight. We truly loved our stay and would highly recommend.
What could be improved: We loved everything about our stay.Exceptional – Dario from Italy – 28 May 2025 (10/10)
Riad Malida is a very nice riad in the center of la Medina. The room was nice and clean, the breakfast was very very good and the staff was amazing. One above the other is Ayoub, he's a very nice man, so gentle and helpful for everything. He's not just one of the best host we have ever met, but one of the best people too. Thank you again for everything.

What could be improved: We loved our stayReally nice stay, staff, location, clean, well maintained, good breakfast – Matthew from United Kingdom – 13 May 2025 (9/10)
Beautiful. Friendly staff. Well greeted upon arrival. Very secure (door always manned 24/7), with someone monitoring the bell. Good breakfast. Central location. Lovely room.
What could be improved: Privacy may be difficult considering how close the rooms are, and the way a Riad is generally laid out compared to a conventional hotel. Not a criticism of this specific venue.Exceptional – Renato from Switzerland – 10 May 2025 (10/10)
First of all, the host, Ayoub, is very friendly!!
This Riad is very quiet and very nice, really special, and the swimming pool gives this charming effect.
Rooftop is just something Amazing!! Rooftop of this Riad is higher than others around, therefore don’t spend time looking for a place where to enjoy the sunset, you have it!
It’s not to far from the main square, but enough to don’t hear the noise.
What could be improved: Maybe it’s not so easy to find without internet or if you have a lot of languages.Lovely Riad – Kristiina from Finland – 27 April 2025 (10/10)
Wonderful Riad with a lovely terrace. The room was very good and clean. The location is excellent. Lots of restaurants and attractions nearby. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Ayoub wanted to do everything he could to make sure we got everything we needed. Communication was easy and we got good tips! We would love to come here again 🙂
What could be improved: The shower is a bit dark.Highly recommend this traditional, beautiful, and clean riad! – Divya from United States – 25 April 2025 (10/10)
Awesome traditional riad in the heart of the medina! It was my husband and I's first time in Marrakech and we would come back to this riad if we're ever there again. I was nervous as we do not speak great french, but one of the hosts Ayoub spoke perfect english, welcomed us, and helped us so much throughout our stay with anything we needed! The riad itself is gorgeous..beautiful tile, wood, stained glass windows…and the location can't be beat (we walked pretty much everywhere.) You can't go wrong by staying here. Highly recommend!
What could be improved: We loved it all! I wish we had had more time there to just hang out on the awesome rooftop (it has great views!)Exceptional – Johnson from United Kingdom – 15 April 2025 (10/10)
Ayoub was very welcoming and friendly. The cleaners did a great job and always had a smile on their face. Breakfast was great. Very quiet place and the pool was clean. The location was a very short walk to the main square
