Riad Nomada Marrakech Overview
You know what hit me first when I walked into Riad Nomada? The silence. I mean, you’re literally steps away from the chaos of Derb El Hammam in the medina – and trust me, that street gets absolutely mental with motorbikes and donkey carts – but once you step through their heavy wooden doors, it’s like someone hit the mute button on Marrakech.
The whole place feels like someone’s incredibly stylish aunt decided to renovate a traditional riad but actually knew what they were doing. The courtyard has this gorgeous fountain that’s not trying too hard to be Instagram-perfect, and the rooms wrap around it in that classic riad style. What I loved is how they’ve kept all the original zellige tilework and carved plaster but added proper modern touches – like, the wifi actually works (miracle in the medina), and the air conditioning doesn’t sound like a helicopter landing. The staff here genuinely seem to enjoy their jobs, which honestly makes such a difference when you’re trying to figure out how to get to the Bahia Palace without getting completely lost in those winding alleys.
Location-wise, you’re perfectly positioned but you need to know what you’re getting into. The medina streets around here are properly narrow – I’m talking barely wide enough for two people to pass – so if you’re claustrophobic or have mobility issues, maybe think twice. But if you want to be in the thick of authentic Marrakech life, this is it. You’re a five-minute walk from Jemaa el-Fnaa square (follow the sound of the drums), and some of the best little restaurants are tucked away right in this neighborhood. The riads along Derb El Hammam tend to be family-run places that have been here for generations, so you get that real local feel without sacrificing comfort. Fair warning though – the call to prayer echoes beautifully but loudly through the courtyard at dawn, which I actually found quite magical after the first slightly jarring morning. The 9.5 rating makes total sense when you experience how they’ve managed to blend that authentic medina atmosphere with genuine hospitality and attention to detail. It’s the kind of place where you’ll find yourself lingering over mint tea in the courtyard way longer than you planned, and honestly, that’s exactly what a good riad should do to you.

Great find in the Medina City center. Walkable to all the shops and restaurants. – Michelle from United States – 22 January 2025 (10/10)
We stayed here 5 nights. The riad was modern, well decorated, with comfortable rooms and bathrooms. Comfortable beds. Great breakfast. Good wifi throughout. Smart TV with Netflix etc in a community living room. Courteous and kind staff. Good heating/AC. Bottled water provided in the rooms, as well as bath products (shampoo, conditioner, shower gel). The Riad has five bedrooms and our group had three bedrooms. They were on different floors – one on the main floor, one on a second floor and one slightly higher. The rooms were great, comfortable, and quiet. The staff was always checking in and making sure we had all that we needed and even offered us tea on some nights. We were well taken care of and glad we picked this place for our group travel.
What could be improved: Bathroom towels were a little thin. More towels and bath mats for the bathroom would be good. Slight sewer odor in the downstairs bathroom at times (but it is a result of staying in the Medina and not directly fault of the property). Not a problem if the bathroom door stays closed. Otherwise everything else was great.
