Riad Palmier Overview

You know what really struck me about Riad Palmier? It’s tucked away on this tiny street called Derb Berrima Touareg that honestly feels like a secret – I mean, you’ll walk past the entrance three times before you spot it. But that’s actually perfect because once you’re inside, you’re in this completely different world while still being maybe a ten-minute walk from Jemaa el-Fnaa square.

The whole place has this authentic riad vibe that doesn’t feel forced or touristy. The central courtyard is gorgeous, obviously, but what I loved was how they’ve kept all the original zellige tilework and carved plaster without making it feel like a museum. You can actually relax here. The rooms are proper Moroccan style – thick walls that keep things cool during the day, beautiful wooden furniture, and honestly some of the most comfortable beds I’ve slept in. The bathrooms are modern enough (good water pressure, which matters more than you’d think in the medina) but they’ve kept the traditional tadelakt plaster walls. There’s this subtle mint and orange blossom scent throughout the place that’s never overwhelming – I think it’s from the courtyard garden.

What really sets this place apart is the staff actually knowing the neighborhood. They’ll tell you which hammam to visit (skip the touristy ones), where to get the best pastilla, and – this was clutch – how to navigate back through the souks without getting completely turned around. The location is brilliant once you get your bearings. You’re deep enough in the medina to feel authentic, but you’re not dealing with the chaos of the main tourist drags. Mornings are particularly peaceful here, and you can hear the call to prayer echoing off the walls in a way that’s actually quite beautiful. The rooftop terrace gives you decent views over the medina, and it’s lovely for breakfast or evening mint tea, though it does get busy during peak season. One small thing – the WiFi can be spotty in some rooms, but honestly, that might be a blessing in disguise. With a 9.1 rating, this place clearly knows what it’s doing, and after staying here, I get why people come back.

  We had a really special time at Riad Palmier.
  The Riad is in the centre of the Medina and very close to the souks and the main square. Despite this it is very peaceful besides being beautiful and clean. The swimming pool is lovely and the breakfast was great. We were also impressed by the members of the staff, they were very friendly and accommodating, in particular Youssef. He was very welcoming, friendly and helpful and with his kindness he made sure I had the best birthday there with my friends

  Our stay at Riad Palmier was simply amazing! It really is a quiet oasis in the bustling area of the medina. Staff there was so friendly and welcoming and gave us so many helpful advice on how to navigate around the city. Especially Rachid and Samira, they made our stay extra memorable! Our breakfast was delicious mixed with savoury and sweet. Our rooms were very clean and comfortable. Aircon was strong and shower pressure was just right. We felt extremely safe and looked after and would 100% recommend! The location is ideal as it’s walking distance to most tourist spots 🙂 we’ll definitely be back 😊

  Great location in the Medina- a small and quiet haven in the chaos, lovely cold plunge pool, friendly and helpful staff, sun roof terrace, mint tea and coffee, friendly staff, comfortable beds, air con in room, simple but tasty breakfast included, great value for money.

  Riad Palmier is the perfect hideaway from the hustle of the Medina in the perfect location. It's beautiful, peaceful, and clean, and the staff couldn't be more accommodating and helpful. Excellent breakfasts too. My husband, adult son and I were very happy with our stay.

  Beautiful riad in an excellent location. Easy short walk to the square and souks. It is nice and quiet, a little haven away from the hustle and bustle of the Medina. The pool is also lovely and the breakfast was delicious. Room clean and comfortable.

  The property is well located, beautifully decorated and provides all the necessities. Our room was clean, well equipped and cute. Breakfast was very tasty. Mr. Rachid was very kind and helpful. Apart from his honest hospitality, he recommended us the Car Rental company and it worked out perfectly! Definitely a big recommendation.
