Riad Palmier Overview

First Impressions

Walking through the narrow alleyways of the medina to find Riad Palmier honestly feels like you’re on a treasure hunt — and when you finally push through that heavy wooden door, you realize you’ve struck gold. This traditional riad sits tucked away on Derb Berrima Touareg, which I know sounds impossible to pronounce, but trust me, it’s worth memorizing because you’ll want to come back. The moment you step inside, there’s this immediate sense of calm that washes over you, especially after navigating the bustling souks just minutes before.

Location & Neighborhood

You know what’s brilliant about this spot? It’s right in the heart of the medina’s top-rated area — couples consistently give the location a 9.4 rating, and I can see why. You’re literally a five-minute walk from Jemaa el-Fnaa square, but far enough away that you won’t hear the snake charmers at dawn. The surrounding derbs (that’s what locals call these narrow streets) are lined with authentic workshops where you can watch artisans crafting leather goods and metalwork. I actually discovered some of my favorite local restaurants just by wandering these same alleyways — places that don’t even have signs, just follow the scent of tagines.

The Riad Experience

Riad Palmier captures that authentic Moroccan architecture perfectly, with its central courtyard and traditional tadelakt walls. The whole place feels intimate rather than overwhelming — you’re not going to get lost here like you might in some of the massive hotel complexes. What really impressed me was how they’ve maintained the original character while making sure everything actually works well for modern travelers. The staff here genuinely knows the neighborhood inside and out, so when they give you directions or restaurant recommendations, you can trust them completely.

Sleep Quality & Comfort

Here’s something that matters more than people realize — the beds are genuinely comfortable, and guests consistently rave about getting great sleep here. After spending days walking on cobblestones and climbing up to rooftop terraces, you really need a proper night’s rest. The rooms stay surprisingly cool even during Marrakech‘s warmer months, and there’s something about the thick walls that keeps the outside noise to a minimum. I mean, you’ll still hear the call to prayer at dawn, but that’s part of the authentic experience, right?

Why Guests Love It

The continental breakfast situation works perfectly — it’s served in the courtyard where you can plan your day while sipping mint tea and eating fresh pastries. What guests consistently mention is how this place strikes the right balance between authentic Moroccan hospitality and practical comfort. You’re staying in a real riad in the actual medina, not some sanitized hotel version of Morocco, but you’re also not roughing it. The 9.1 overall rating really reflects this sweet spot — it’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re experiencing the real Marrakech while still being able to retreat to genuine comfort at the end of each adventure-filled day.

Reviews of Riad Palmier

  • Peaceful and beautiful Riad – Eleonora from United Kingdom – 3 July 2025 (9/10)

We had a really special time at Riad Palmier.
The Riad is in the centre of the Medina and very close to the souks and the main square. Despite this it is very peaceful besides being beautiful and clean. The swimming pool is lovely and the breakfast was great. We were also impressed by the members of the staff, they were very friendly and accommodating, in particular Youssef. He was very welcoming, friendly and helpful and with his kindness he made sure I had the best birthday there with my friends
We would definitely recommend this place!

Our stay at Riad Palmier was simply amazing! It really is a quiet oasis in the bustling area of the medina. Staff there was so friendly and welcoming and gave us so many helpful advice on how to navigate around the city. Especially Rachid and Samira, they made our stay extra memorable! Our breakfast was delicious mixed with savoury and sweet. Our rooms were very clean and comfortable. Aircon was strong and shower pressure was just right. We felt extremely safe and looked after and would 100% recommend! The location is ideal as it’s walking distance to most tourist spots 🙂 we’ll definitely be back 😊
