Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of riads around Marrakech, but Riad Raffaa actually gets it right in ways that surprised me. It’s tucked away on Derb Jdid in the Bab Doukala area – and honestly, this is one of those locations that feels properly local without being completely impossible to find. You know how some riads are buried so deep in the medina that even your taxi driver gives up? Well, this one’s accessible enough that you won’t be dragging your suitcase through narrow alleyways for twenty minutes, but you’re still getting that authentic medina experience.

The whole place has this lived-in elegance that I really appreciated. The courtyard – because every riad worth its salt has one – actually feels like a space you want to hang out in, not just photograph for Instagram. There’s this gorgeous play of light and shadow throughout the day, and I found myself just sitting there in the late afternoon with mint tea, watching the light shift across the zellige tiles. The rooms themselves are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star riad: traditional Moroccan design but with proper modern bathrooms (thank god), and the beds are actually comfortable – something you can’t always count on in these historic buildings. I mean, the walls are thick enough that you’re not hearing every conversation from the street, which is saying something in the medina.

What really won me over was the staff’s approach to hospitality. They’re not hovering or overly formal, but they genuinely seem to know what travelers need. The morning I had an early excursion to the Atlas Mountains, they had breakfast ready at 6 AM without me even asking – just anticipated it based on our conversation the night before. And here’s something practical: they actually help with navigation in a useful way. Instead of just pointing vaguely toward Jemaa el-Fnaa, they’ll walk you to the main street and explain landmarks you’ll actually remember. The whole Bab Doukala neighborhood is honestly underrated too – you’re close enough to the main souks and attractions, but it’s not tourist central, so you’ll see actual Marrakchi life happening around you. There’s this little local café about fifty meters away where the mint tea costs a fraction of what you’d pay near the main square, and the bread guy comes through the neighborhood every morning around 8 AM with his cart – these are the details that make a stay feel real rather than just exotic. The riad’s 8.5 rating makes sense when you experience it; it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Marrakech, but it delivers on the things that actually matter for a memorable stay.

  I don’t normally leave a review, but this time I had to. The location was perfect for us, very nice and clean Riad. Would definitely use it again. Very nice family! Clean room and toilet! Very nice roof top view. The breakfast included was the best one that we experienced from our trip. You go in the heart of a real good experience.

  Me and My Son had a Lovely Stay at Your Riad Raffaa Recently in Marrakesh. It Was Our First Visit to Marrakesh Morocco and we wanted to be close to the Centre, and Honestly this Riad Was Just Perfect For Us.
  Our Stay included Breakfast which was Lovely. We Had A Big Bedroom With 2 Double Beds in. Staff Were Excellent Too, Very Friendly and helpful. I Would Recommend the Riad Raffaa Thank You for our Stay.
