Riad Sheba Overview
You know what surprised me most about Riad Sheba? It’s actually tucked away on this narrow little street called Derb Raouia in the Rmlia quarter, and honestly, I walked past it twice before realizing I was there. The entrance is so understated – just a traditional wooden door with brass fittings – but that’s exactly what makes it feel authentic rather than touristy.
Once you’re inside though, it’s like stepping into someone’s beautifully maintained family home. The central courtyard has this gorgeous fountain that creates the most soothing background noise, which I mean, you really need in the medina because the street sounds can get pretty intense during the day. The rooms are spread around this courtyard on different levels, and I loved how each one feels completely different – some have these incredible carved cedar ceilings, others have more of that classic tadelakt plasterwork that Morocco is famous for. The beds are actually comfortable (not always a given in riads, to be honest), and the bathrooms manage to blend traditional Moroccan tiles with modern fixtures that, well, actually work properly.
What really sets this place apart is the staff’s local knowledge. The owner, who’s often around in the evenings, knows every spice vendor and carpet dealer in the souks – and more importantly, he’ll tell you which ones to avoid. He gave me directions to this tiny restaurant near Jemaa el-Fnaa that I never would have found on my own, and it ended up being one of my best meals in Marrakech. The location is perfect for exploring the medina on foot; you’re close enough to the main square to hear the drums in the evening, but far enough away that you can actually sleep. I’d say it’s about a ten-minute walk to the main tourist areas, but you’re right in the heart of where actual Marrakchi families live and work. The morning call to prayer echoes beautifully through the courtyard around 5 AM – some people might find it early, but I thought it was pretty magical. Breakfast on the rooftop terrace gives you these amazing views over the medina’s rooftops, and you can see the Atlas Mountains on clear days. The whole experience feels genuine in a way that a lot of the flashier riads don’t quite manage.

Reviews of Riad Sheba
Exceptional – Zoe from United Kingdom – 7 July 2025 (10/10)
We would recommend Riad Sheba to anyone visiting Marrakesh!! The Riad is just as beautiful as the photos online, with shaded seating areas downstairs next to the pool and a garden terrace on the top floor with stunning views of the city! The location was also fantastic, a short walk from all major attractions in the city, and a main road right outside with taxis – such an easy base to explore the city from. The room had air conditioning and was very clean, and we found the breakfast delicious!! All the staff at Riad Sheba were incredibly kind and welcoming, very helpful when we had issues with our flight- letting us check in late with no fuss, as well as assisting with taxis/city recommendations and suggestions (as well as offering us mint tea regularly🥰). Staying at Riad Sheba felt like a very safe and serene escape from the busy city, great for female travellers – and was overall a wonderful experience!! We would love to come back next time we visit, no question!!

Wonderful Marrakech stay – Glenn from Canada – 6 June 2025 (10/10)
Riad Sheba was such a great oasis for us to stay in this, our first time visiting Marrakech. The location is good – only steps away from a main street, but still very close to the heart of the medina. Very comfortable room, lovely patio and pool, nice breakfasts. The staff really made us feel at home – Abdel, Jamal, Mustafa & Najeeb were all so kind and quick to help with advice, suggestions, getting taxis (and negotiating the price for you!), etc.
What could be improved: No mini-fridges in the rooms. But there is a common area mini-fridge on the terrace that you can use.It was an overall amazing experience! – Jonathan from United States – 9 May 2025 (10/10)
We loved the atmosphere, the location, and most of all, the service, Jamil was amazing and always accommodating to our needs.

I only had two nights at Riad Sheba, but it was a delightful experience. Quite tranquil and relaxing from the hustle and bustle of the streets out. Very friendly and welcoming staff which made for a pleasant, all be it short stay.

Beautiful Riad, our room was comfortable, spacious and very clean. The Riad was very quiet and peaceful. Excellent location close to Medina and main attractions and on a main road so taxi could stop right at the door. The area felt quite safe. On request the riad will organise airport transfers which was very convenient €21 each way for 2 people. Complimentary breakfast daily was fresh and lovely. Also on request you can eat in the riad but you need to arrange the day before or early in morning, €22 per person and the food was delicious, highly recommend. The staff were all friendly, polite and helpful, especially Jamal who was always extremely attentive, kind, very friendly, and always ready to help with whatever you needed. I would highly recommend Riad Sheba and would definitely stay here again.
What could be improved: Nothing, everything was lovelyRiad Sheba – Nev from United Kingdom – 27 February 2025 (10/10)
I really enjoyed the the traditional building with inner court yard pool and terrace.
The staff were fabulous and couldn't do enough for us weather it was organising a taxi from or to the airport, a trip to to the Sahara or something as wonderful as just an ice bucket to our room. If we would like a nice bottle of wine all we had to do would mention it to them evening before and it was their waiting for us… We loved our stay and will be returning shortly…
