Riad shéhérazade Marrakech Overview
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Riad Shéhérazade, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. The Palmeraie Nord area is this sprawling palm grove district that feels miles away from the chaos of the medina (which, honestly, is exactly what you want after a day of haggling in the souks). The riad sits tucked away in Dar Tounsi, and you know what struck me immediately? The silence. I mean, you can still hear the call to prayer drifting over from the city, but there’s this peaceful quality that’s hard to find in central Marrakech.
The building itself is pure Moroccan elegance without trying too hard – those traditional clay walls that keep everything cool even when it’s blazing outside, intricate tilework that catches the light just right, and a central courtyard that actually makes you want to linger over mint tea instead of rushing off to the next Instagram spot. The rooms have this authentic feel that so many places try to fake – carved wooden details, proper Berber rugs, and bathrooms with tadelakt walls that feel smooth as silk under your hands. What really impressed me was how they managed to keep the traditional vibe while sneaking in modern touches that actually work. The air conditioning runs quietly (crucial during summer), the Wi-Fi reaches every corner, and the beds are genuinely comfortable, not just pretty to look at.
The staff here gets it – they’re not hovering constantly, but they seem to anticipate what you need before you ask. During Ramadan, they quietly adjusted breakfast times without making a fuss about it, and they know exactly which taxi drivers won’t try to overcharge you for the twenty-minute ride into the medina. The pool area becomes this perfect refuge during the afternoon heat, surrounded by palm trees that provide actual shade (not just decoration), and the water temperature is spot-on year-round. I particularly loved the rooftop terrace at sunset – you get these incredible views over the palm groves with the Atlas Mountains rising in the distance, and the light turns everything golden in that way that makes you understand why people fall in love with Morocco. Sure, you’re not walking distance from Jemaa el-Fnaa, but that’s sort of the point – you get the best of both worlds, the authentic Marrakech experience without the constant sensory overload. The 9-star rating isn’t just numbers on a website; it reflects those little details that turn a good trip into one you’ll actually remember years later.

Reviews of Riad shéhérazade Marrakech
All reviews were helpful and we knew what we booked so we really enjoyed it. I wouldn’t book without a rental car, but b – Ana from Portugal – 21 May 2025 (9/10)
Amazing pool and garden and quiet environment. Comfortable bed, very big room and living room. The staff were incredibly nice.
Very close to a super unknown museum (Palmerie), so worth a visit. You also have a supermarket 2kms away where you can get groceries and drinks.
What could be improved: The breakfast, even though it was savoury and typical, the fact that it was only bread and similar and one omelette and had no fruit or more options wasn’t ideal. Some windows had no shutters and the sun would come in very early. We also has some moments without water or electricity.Exceptional – Bruno from France – 30 April 2025 (10/10)
