You know what really struck me about Riad Spa Sindibad? It’s tucked away on this narrow derb in the Bab Doukkala area – and I mean properly hidden, like you’ll walk past the entrance twice before your GPS finally makes sense. But honestly, that’s part of its charm. The medina can be overwhelming with all the tourist traps around Jemaa el-Fnaa, but this little pocket near Bab Yacout feels more… authentic, I guess. Less hassle from street vendors, more actual Marrakchi families going about their day.

The riad itself is one of those places that looks modest from the street – just a heavy wooden door with some geometric tilework – but then you step inside and it’s like entering a completely different world. The central courtyard has this gorgeous fountain that actually works (you’d be surprised how many don’t), and the sound of water trickling becomes this constant, soothing backdrop. The spa part isn’t just a marketing gimmick either; they’ve got a proper hammam downstairs that smells like eucalyptus and rose water, and the massage rooms are these cozy alcoves with actual skilled therapists, not just someone going through the motions. I had a treatment there on my second day – honestly needed it after navigating the souks – and it was legitimately relaxing.

The rooms vary quite a bit since it’s a converted traditional house, so some are more spacious than others, but they’ve all got that classic Moroccan style without feeling like a theme park. Tadelakt walls, carved cedar ceilings, the works. What I appreciated most was the attention to comfort – proper air conditioning that actually cools the room, decent water pressure in the showers, and beds that don’t feel like concrete slabs. The rooftop terrace is where you’ll probably spend your evenings though, especially if you’re there during the cooler months. You can see the Atlas Mountains on clear days, and the sunset views over the medina’s maze of buildings are pretty spectacular. They serve mint tea up there around 5 PM – not fancy, just good strong tea with way too much sugar, exactly how it should be. The staff genuinely seems to care about the place too, which makes a difference. They’ll help you figure out directions without trying to sell you their cousin’s carpet shop, and they actually know the neighborhood well enough to recommend the good local spots for tagine that aren’t tourist traps.

  Great Riad, full of life, the staff is very attentive. The room was excellent, clean and cozy. Great terrace, pool and food. We stayed here during our last night and it was pretty much the best place we ever stayed in Morocco. We would definitely come back here.
