RIAD TAZZORI Overview

You know what hit me first when I walked into Riad Tazzori? The sudden quiet. One minute you’re navigating the chaos of Derb Elbaroud in the heart of the medina – dodging motorbikes and getting wonderfully lost among the spice vendors – and then you step through this unassuming wooden door and it’s like someone hit the mute button on Marrakech. The courtyard is this perfect little sanctuary with traditional zellij tilework that catches the light just right, and honestly, I stood there for a good minute just decompressing from the sensory overload outside.

What I love about this place is that it feels authentically Moroccan without being stuffy or museum-like. The staff – particularly this guy Hassan who seems to know everyone in the neighborhood – they’re not just polite, they’re genuinely invested in making sure you experience the real Marrakech. He actually walked me through the medina’s back alleys on my first morning, pointing out which bakery makes the best msemen and warning me about the “tourist traps” near Jemaa el-Fnaa. The rooms themselves are beautifully done with handcrafted furniture and those thick tadelakt walls that keep everything cool even when it’s blazing outside. I mean, the AC works fine, but you barely need it. My room overlooked the central courtyard, and I’d wake up to the sound of the fountain and birds – such a contrast to the call-and-response of vendors that starts up just beyond the walls around 8 AM.

Location-wise, you’re perfectly positioned but you need to know what you’re getting into. This isn’t some sanitized hotel district – you’re deep in the medina, which means narrow streets, the occasional donkey cart, and definitely no taxi access to your door. But that’s actually the magic of it. You’re a five-minute walk from the main souks, maybe ten to the big square, and you’ll discover all these hidden gems along the way. There’s this tiny restaurant called Café des Épices that locals frequent – I never would have found it if I’d been staying in Gueliz. The riad provides a map, but honestly, getting lost is half the fun. Just remember the landmark of the old mosque near the entrance to Hart Essoura; it’ll save you from wandering in circles like I did on night two. One small thing – the WiFi can be spotty in some rooms, but the common areas have solid connection, and let’s be real, you’re in Marrakech to disconnect anyway. The rooftop terrace at sunset is absolutely perfect for mint tea and planning your next day’s adventure, with views over the medina’s rooftops that remind you why this city has been enchanting travelers for centuries.

  • Great host – Mia from Ireland – 30 May 2025 (10/10)

Mohammed is an amazing host! He is very friendly and quick to respond to all our questions. He provided us direct information for all the places to visit. The place is well maintained and very clean, breakfast was good.
The riad is very close to the old town and most touristy spots are accessible by foot. We will come back if given the chance to travel to Marrakesh again.

    What could be improved: nothing

  • Exceptional – Nina from Slovenia – 17 May 2025 (10/10)

Everything was more than excellent. Our host Mohamed was very kind, always available for anything we needed, and we were able to arrange everything with him easily. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed. Our entire stay at the Riad added a special touch to our time in Marrakech. We will definitely come back again!

  • Exceptional – Mariana from Portugal – 19 February 2025 (10/10)

Riad Tazzori is really well located.
The Riad is beautiful and super clean. The breakfast is excellent!! Mohamed, the responsible is very friendly and very helpful with every need! Loved this Riad.

  • Peaceful home in the middle of Marrakech – Boglárka from Hungary – 19 January 2025 (10/10)

Riad Tazzori was the best choice! Marrakech is a really colorful and busy city, the highlight of our days was arriving home to the Riad and enjoying the sun and warm on the roof terrace.
When we arrived Mohamed was waiting for us with mint tea. Breakfast was very good every morning, homemade joghurt, fruit, bread, jam, eggs, coffee.
The riad itself is very cute only with a few rooms, well equipped. As it is January, we used the AC for heating.
Mohamed was always available for us, he helped us organizing trips for camel ride and a one-day trip to Atlas mountains. We also ordered airport transfer, it was good decision as no car can enter the old town.

    What could be improved: –

  • Stylish riad in a great location. – Alison from United Kingdom – 5 January 2025 (9/10)

Beautiful property just a few steps from the sites and souks of the medina. Mohammed was very friendly and helpful. Taxis can’t take you into the streets of the medina so it’s helpful to have the option of the road organising your transport (even if it is a chunk more at €20).

What could be improved: No indoor eating area so it was cool sat at breakfast in January.

  • Beautiful gem hidden away in the Medina – Nur from United Kingdom – 28 December 2024 (10/10)

Beautiful, intimate riad as advertised. A comfortable stay if you don't like crowds. Great communication all the way with Mohamed who met us at the drop-off point on check-in day. We were welcomed with Moroccan tea and he explained the surroundings and tips for our stay. Breakfast was lovely! I love the prime location which is accessible to the souks and places of interests. There is hot water in the toilet but will have to wait for a while. Mohamed was patient and attended to our request for early breakfast due to early check-out.

  • We had a very pleasant stay and I would recommend this hotel to others when visiting Marrakech! – Janvi from Germany – 19 November 2024 (9/10)

It was beautifully decorated and Mohammed, the owner, takes a lot of care of each of his guests. It is not a big hotel therefore there is a real personal touch to the service.

What could be improved: Due to the local climate it is very important to air out the room while you are out sightseeing otherwise there can be a damp humid smell in the room when you return. Also, the hotel is located at the heart of the Medina which is great to access the old part of Marrakech but can be challenging to get to with luggage when first arriving from the airport.
