You know, I’ll be honest – when I first turned down Derb Lalla Azzouna looking for Riad Tibibt, I thought I was completely lost. The narrow alleyways in this part of the Medina can be absolutely maze-like, and Google Maps basically gives up trying to help you once you’re deep in the souks. But that’s actually part of what makes this place so special – it’s tucked away in the Moukef neighborhood where you get that authentic Marrakech experience without the constant hustle of vendors that you’ll find closer to Jemaa el-Fnaa.

The riad itself is one of those places that just gets everything right without trying too hard. The moment you step through that heavy wooden door (and trust me, ring the bell – don’t try to push it open yourself), you’re hit with this incredible sense of calm. The central courtyard has this gorgeous fountain that creates just enough ambient sound to drown out the occasional motorbike puttering through the derb outside. I mean, the tilework is stunning – clearly restored with care – but what I really loved were the little details. The way the light filters through in the afternoon, how the orange trees actually smell like orange blossoms in spring, the fact that there are enough seating areas that you can always find a quiet spot to read even when the riad is full.

The rooms are what you’d hope for in a traditional riad – high ceilings, beautiful textiles, and those thick walls that keep things surprisingly cool even in summer. Actually, I was there in July (probably not my smartest move timing-wise), and the room stayed comfortable without blasting air conditioning all night. The rooftop terrace is where you’ll want to spend your evenings though – you can see the Atlas Mountains on clear days, and there’s something magical about watching the call to prayer echo across the city from up there. The staff really knows their stuff too – they’ll arrange airport transfers that actually show up on time, and their restaurant recommendations are spot-on. I ended up at this tiny place near Bab Doukkala that I never would have found otherwise, and honestly, it was better than some of the more famous spots tourists usually hit.

What really sets Riad Tibibt apart is that it feels like staying in someone’s beautifully restored home rather than a hotel trying to look like a riad. The 9.2 rating makes perfect sense when you experience it – everything from the seamless check-in to the genuine helpfulness of the staff feels effortless. Yes, you’ll need to walk about ten minutes to reach the main square (longer if you get turned around, which you will), but that’s actually a blessing. You get to experience the real rhythm of the Medina, and you’ll sleep better at night away from the main tourist chaos. Plus, there’s something satisfying about navigating those winding streets and knowing you’re heading back to your own little oasis tucked away from it all.

  Amazing place with a pool, awesome lush gardens, and the most beautiful terrace I saw in Morocco. Wonderful breakfast! We had to leave earlier than breakfast usually started, and they arranged early breakfast for us that never happened in our previous hotels. Highly recommend this hotel.

  This Riad was the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen in Morocco. This is my second time traveling to Marrakesh and I’m so happy I got to stay in the center of the Medina. The staff was very kind and helpful. On arrival they greeted us with tea and water. Our room was on the second level and it was very clean and nice. Each morning we were welcomed with breakfast and it was very good. I will definitely be back to Morocco and will be staying at Riad Tibibt. I highly recommend booking this place if you are in Marrakesh because you will not regret it!!!

  The riad was absolutely amazing! Great location and they have the best staff. Immediately when we arrived we were greeted with tea and water. The hospitality was perfect. The room was also very clean and comfortable. If we ever needed anything, the staff would assist. Everything about this place was a 10/10 and I highly recommend staying here if you are in Morocco!

  The staff was very friendly throughout our stay. They offered us a taxi service and for 20 euros they took us from the airport to the hotel and also back to the airport. At the end of our stay, the hotel staff remained very kind. The rooms were comfortable and clean, and the place is nice. Very good experience.
  
  What could be improved: The upper area felt a bit neglected — some lamps didn’t work and the plants could use a little care. Just something to keep in mind.

  We enjoyed the peace and serenity of the place along with the really helpful staff. Rooms and furnishings were in keeping with the Riad style, fashionable and quirky. We liked the open spaces having a well established garden with banana tree and other exotic plants, a nice place to eat. We stayed in one evening to sample a traditional meal which was amazing. Along with the small indoor pool and great roof terrace, very helpful staff…I could go on. Definitely recommend Riad Tibibt.

  Flawless transfers to/from the hotel
  Staff were very kind and helpful to the extent that the hotel manager came out to collect us when we were let down by our taxi driver late one evening. The Riad is spotlessly clean, the alcohol at the hotel is extremely good value and the pool area and roof terrace are lovely areas to relax in.
