Riad Tizwa Marrakech Overview
You know what? I’ve stayed in a lot of riads in Marrakech, and Riad Tizwa actually gets it right in ways that surprised me. It’s tucked away on this narrow derb in the Dar el Bacha neighborhood – and I mean really tucked away. You’ll definitely get a little lost finding it the first time (everyone does), but that’s honestly part of the charm. The area is way more authentic than some of the touristy spots closer to Jemaa el-Fnaa, and you’re still only about a 10-minute walk from all the action when you want it.
The building itself is gorgeous – proper traditional architecture with that classic central courtyard that keeps everything cool, even when it’s blazing hot outside. What I loved most was how quiet it gets at night. You hear the call to prayer from nearby mosques, maybe some distant sounds from the medina, but none of that honking and chaos that keeps you up in other parts of the city. The rooms are spacious (well, by riad standards anyway), and they’ve clearly put money into the restoration without going overboard with modern touches that would kill the vibe. The bathroom situation is solid too – good water pressure, which honestly can be hit or miss in older riads.
The staff here actually knows the neighborhood, not just the tourist spots. They pointed me toward this little bakery around the corner where locals get their bread – you’d never find it on your own – and gave me proper directions to the Bahia Palace that avoided the worst of the souk crowds. Breakfast happens on the rooftop terrace, and I mean, the view over the medina is pretty spectacular, especially early morning when the light hits just right. The food is simple but fresh – fresh orange juice, good coffee, traditional Moroccan pastries. Nothing fancy, but it feels authentic. Check-in was smooth too, which matters when you’re tired and just want to drop your bags. They sorted out airport pickup for me, and the driver knew exactly where to go (trust me, this is not always the case with riads). The only small thing – and this is pretty common in the medina – is that the WiFi can be spotty in some rooms, though it works fine in the common areas. But honestly, if you’re constantly on your phone in a place like this, you’re kind of missing the point anyway.

What could be improved: No pool unfortunately but everything else was perfect.Amazing ! – Robert from Spain – 6 May 2025 (10/10)
Our stay at Riad Tizwa in Marrakesh was nothing short of magical. From the moment we arrived, we were enveloped in the warm hospitality that makes this place truly special.
Hassan, the manager, was exceptional. His communication before and during our stay was impeccable – always responding promptly and going above and beyond to ensure our comfort. He arranged airport transfers, recommended authentic local restaurants, and even offered to organise our day trip to the Atlas Mountains and various other must do tours of Morocco. His genuine warmth and extensive knowledge of Marrakesh made us feel like welcome guests rather than tourists.
The two Mohamads on staff were equally wonderful. One greeted us each morning with his infectious smile and served breakfast with pride and attention to detail. The other Mohamad was incredibly helpful with directions and advice about navigating the medina and greeted us each evening to make sure we had everything we needed before going to bed.
The ever smiling and kind cleaning staff deserves special praise for maintaining immaculate rooms. We returned each day to perfectly made beds and spotless bathrooms.
Breakfast was a daily highlight – served in the beautiful courtyard or on the rooftop terrace. The fresh bread, homemade jams, Moroccan pancakes, and mint tea provided the perfect start to each adventure-filled day.
The riad itself is a peaceful haven in the bustling medina – traditional architecture blended with modern comforts, gorgeous tilework, and a serene atmosphere. The rooftop offers wonderful views of the city.
Thanks to Hassan and his incredible team, our stay at Riad Tizwa wasn't just accommodation – it was a meaningful glimpse into Moroccan hospitality and an essential part of our Marrakesh experience. We'll be back for sure!

What could be improved: We had a little problem with the toilet. The shower had electricity and sometimes the sink would fill with water that wouldn't drain.
