Riad Tonaroz Overview
You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Riad Tonaroz – honestly, finding it on Route Amezmiz in the Tasseltant area took some doing since it’s tucked away from the main tourist circuit in Menara. But that’s actually part of what makes this place special. You’re getting the real Marrakech experience without the constant hustle of the medina, though you’re still close enough (maybe 15 minutes by petit taxi) to hit Jemaa el-Fnaa when the mood strikes.
The moment you step through those heavy wooden doors, it’s like entering someone’s beautifully curated home rather than a hotel. I mean, most riads have that traditional courtyard thing going on, but Tonaroz feels more intimate – maybe because it’s smaller, or because the staff actually remembers your name after day one. The tilework is gorgeous, sure, but it’s the little details that got me: the way the light filters through in the late afternoon, how quiet it gets at night (seriously, you can actually sleep here), and the fact that the mint tea they bring you isn’t just for show – it’s legitimately the best I had during my entire stay in Morocco. The rooftop terrace gives you those Atlas Mountain views everyone talks about, and yeah, they’re pretty spectacular, especially around sunset when the call to prayer echoes across the city.
What I really appreciated was how the place strikes this balance between authentic Moroccan design and actual comfort. The rooms aren’t huge – this is still a traditional riad after all – but the beds are proper comfortable, the bathrooms work (important detail, trust me), and there’s decent WiFi if you need to check in with the world. The staff genuinely knows the area too, which is rare. They steered me toward this little restaurant about ten minutes’ walk away that I never would have found otherwise, and when I needed to arrange transport to the airport, they sorted it without any of the usual haggling drama. Parking can be a bit tricky if you’re driving – the streets around here are narrow and winding – but they’ll help you figure it out. Honestly, with a 9.3 rating, I was expecting it to be either overpriced or overrated, but it’s neither. It’s just a really well-run place that happens to be in a spot where you can experience Marrakech without feeling like you’re constantly dodging tour groups and vendors.

Reviews of Riad Tonaroz
Lovely experience for our first trip to Marrakesh – Phil from United Kingdom – 19 June 2025 (10/10)
A very well appointed property and the staff, Khalid and Abdul were extremely welcoming and helpful
What could be improved: The Riyadh’s transfer arrangement which was promised into the city was not available and this made movement around Marrakesh more difficultPerfect stay, host and amazing Riad! It felt like a home and we were welcomed like family! – Parmerlee from Costa Rica – 11 June 2025 (10/10)
Location away from the Medina was amazing.
What could be improved: We loved everythingBest riad in Morocco! – Bowie from Hong Kong – 4 June 2025 (10/10)
Superb service. We arrived and was met with a lot of assistance with baggage. Room was upgraded despite staying for one night. Was given a lot of advice going to the airport, they printed our boarding passes in advance. Organized an airport shuttle early in the morning and gave us complimentary breakfast beforehand. Very kind attitude in handling our requests. Special shoutout to Khalid and Abdo. Would definitely come back to this riad in my next Marrakech visit.
Exceptional – Suhail from United Kingdom – 18 May 2025 (10/10)
The staff were brilliant throughout – Khalid and Amina were always available to help and assist with travel queries and suggestions on restaurants and shopping. We were asked for our food choices daily, and we were able to dine when it suited us. This allowed us great flexibility in our daily plans. Transport was available for a very reasonable charge to take us to where we wanted to go for shopping or sightseeing.
What could be improved: Nothing to really dislike as such – I would suggest the breakfast have some options. We had traditional Morrocan breakfast, which was freshly made and plentiful but would be improved by having some variety.Comfortable and pleasant – Sara from Sweden – 11 May 2025 (8/10)
Well we stayed here overnight but they moved us due to over booking to the other riad next to this one, called riad Kenza.
Tonaroz was bright and sunny in the morning and we liked the decoration and its bright colours
What could be improved: They said if the black mascara stain on the towel didn’t wash away I had to pay for it which for us as weird and they didn’t have a breakfast buffet but breakfast was served separately for everyone .Had a great stay – Susan from United Kingdom – 10 May 2025 (9/10)
Very welcoming and attentive staff
Exceptional – Iris from Serbia – 4 May 2025 (10/10)
We liked the staff very very much!
So kind, professional, helpful, welcoming and full of positive informations and advices about the city and Marroco in general. Muhammed was of great help for us, and his english is very good. He made us to feel like we are at our home. It would be great if every Riad/hotel would have that great and friendly receptionist! Well done!
We changed 5 hotels in Marroco and this one was the best! The looby, the room, the food everything simply perfect. They even arranged free airport pickup! Also it is not in the city center but even better to be honest- after a busy day in souks, you get to this peaceful oasis and enjoy! We had halfboard and it is a must! Dinener was very tasteful and it variances each day – we must come again!Amazing – Miriam from United Kingdom – 1 May 2025 (10/10)
