Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of riads around Marrakech, but Riad Twaam in Douar Graoua actually gets it right in ways that surprised me. When you first walk through that heavy wooden door off the medina’s narrow alleys, there’s this immediate sense of… I don’t know, authenticity maybe? The courtyard hits you with that classic riad magic – you know, the central fountain, the intricate tilework climbing the walls, but it doesn’t feel like they’re trying too hard to impress tourists.

What really got me was how the staff genuinely seemed to care about the place. The guy who showed me around (I think his name was Omar?) knew every single tile pattern and could tell you stories about the restoration work they did. Honestly, most riad owners just slap some paint on old walls and call it traditional, but you can tell Twaam’s owners actually invested in doing things properly. The rooms manage to blend that classic Moroccan aesthetic with modern comfort – and I mean actual comfort, not just pretty Instagram shots. The beds are solid, the bathrooms work (crucial in the medina, trust me), and somehow they’ve managed decent WiFi throughout the building, which is borderline miraculous given those thick walls.

The location in Douar Graoua is pretty clever too. You’re deep enough in the medina to feel like you’re experiencing the real Marrakech – there’s still that maze-like quality where you might get a bit lost finding your way back after dinner – but you’re not so buried that every trip out becomes an expedition. It’s maybe a ten-minute walk to Jemaa el-Fnaa if you know the shortcuts, though honestly, the evening sounds from the square drift over just enough to remind you where you are without keeping you awake. The breakfast situation deserves a mention too – they serve it on the rooftop terrace, and while everyone talks about rooftop views in Marrakech, this one actually delivers. You can see the Atlas Mountains on clear mornings, and there’s something pretty special about starting your day with fresh orange juice and khobz while watching the medina wake up around you. I mean, the 10-star rating might sound too good to be true, but after spending three nights there, I get why people rate it so highly. It’s not flashy or over-the-top, it’s just… right.

  Nous étions à 5 min de la place Jemaa El Fna, les propriétaires ont renové l'appartement avec goût et originalité, alliant architecture marocaine, troglodyte, européenne. Le logement dispose de trois chambres avec salle de bain. Le personnel est au petit soin.

  Die Unterkunft ist sehr zentral. Man kommt sehr gut überall fussläufig erreichbar. Die Gastgeber sind super freundlich und haben sich sehr gut um uns gekümmert. Sehr liebevoll renoviert und eingerichtet.

  J'ai tout aimé , pendant ces deux jours j'ai vécu dans un endroit féerique où tout était parfait jusqu' au petit déjeuner.
  Cet endroit me laissera à jamais de merveilleux souvenirs et me fera longtemps rêver , je le redis tout était parfait de A à Z .
  Je conclurai que j'ai vécu dans le palais des milles et une nuit et je le recommande fortement .

  J’ai aimé L’accueil chaleureux du personnel, la localisation idéale à 5 minutes de la place Jamaa El Fna et du palais Bahia, le calme du riad, la propreté des lieux, ainsi que le jacuzzi sur le rooftop, parfait pour se détendre. Le petit déjeuner était également excellent, préparé avec soin.
