You know what really struck me about Riad Utopia Suites And Spa? It’s tucked away on this narrow little street called Derb Sidi Bouamar, and I mean narrow – you’ll walk right past it if you’re not paying attention. But that’s actually perfect because once you slip through those heavy wooden doors, the medina chaos just… disappears. The contrast is honestly incredible – one second you’re dodging motorbikes and dodging vendors, the next you’re standing in this gorgeous courtyard with the sound of trickling water and maybe some soft traditional music drifting from somewhere.

The whole place feels like someone’s wealthy aunt decided to open up her private riad, if that makes sense. The suites are spacious (which is rare in the medina, trust me), and they’ve got this authentic Moroccan style without feeling like a theme park. I stayed in one of the upper-floor rooms and the views over the medina rooftops – especially at sunset when the call to prayer echoes across the city – are something else. The spa part isn’t just a marketing gimmick either; they do proper hammam treatments, and after a day of getting lost in the souks, you’ll actually need it. The staff knows their stuff too, which matters when you’re dealing with traditional treatments.

Here’s the thing about the location though – you’re deep enough in the medina to feel authentic, but close enough to the main squares that you won’t spend your entire vacation trying to find your way back. It’s maybe a 10-minute walk to Jemaa el-Fnaa if you know the shortcuts (and honestly, ask at reception because the route through the souks can be confusing). The neighborhood gets pretty quiet at night, which some people love and others find a bit isolating – depends what you’re after, I guess. Check-in was smooth, though like most riads, there’s no real parking situation, so if you’re driving, you’ll need to sort that out beforehand. The 9.3 rating makes sense when you experience the attention to detail – fresh mint tea when you arrive, turndown service that actually adds something to your stay, and breakfast served in the courtyard that changes daily based on what’s fresh at the market. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel like you’re experiencing the real Marrakech, not just visiting it.

  Breakfast was a lovely selection of fruit, yoghurt, omelette, fresh breads/pastries etc served to the table. the staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. We arrived early evening and the owner helped us get a table reservation, which was so helpful. The Riad is down a very small alleyway and you wonder where you are going to but once inside its like an oasis of calm. The accommodation is on the edge of the medina and Souk but is very quiet and peaceful. The rooms are spacious, air conditioned and very comfortable and clean.
  
  What could be improved: It was quite a high sided bath and difficult to get in and out to shower, personally I would have preferred a separate shower but it wasn't a massive issue.

  The staff here are what makes it so wonderful, their friendliness, how hard they work to make your stay perfect.
  The riad itself is tucked at the end of a tight and quite smelly alley but once you step inside it is so peaceful, serene and you're transported to a little haven. The rooftop is a gorgeous and quiet sun trap.
  Breakfast is lovely, plentiful and served with a smile and a great start to the day.
  We had an evening meal which was beautiful!
  Overall they couldn't be more helpful and made our time in morocco great.
  
  What could be improved: The drains were a little smelly BUT I think that's a morrocco thing not a riad utopia thing!

  Breakfast had a good variety. And the times served were convenient.
  Upon check in the concierge sits you down and goes through a map of Marrakech and highlights destinations. It is so helpful and thoughtful.
  The road was beautiful and quiet.
  It’s a bit hidden for first time arrival, so I would recommend getting the airport transfer through them. But when you leave you can easily find a taxi.
