Riad Vert Overview

You know what struck me first about Riad Vert? The moment you duck through that heavy wooden door on Derb Jdid Lakbir, you’re suddenly in this completely different world — and I mean that in the best way possible. The street itself is one of those narrow medina passages where you’ll hear the clip-clop of donkeys carrying goods way before you see them, but once you’re inside the riad, it’s like someone hit the mute button on all that beautiful chaos outside.

The whole place centers around this gorgeous courtyard with a fountain that actually works (honestly, you’d be surprised how many riads have decorative fountains that are bone dry). They’ve got these orange and lemon trees that smell incredible, especially in the early morning when you’re having your mint tea before the day gets too hot. The rooms are arranged around this courtyard in traditional style, and here’s something I really appreciated — the wifi actually reaches everywhere, even up on the rooftop terrace. Speaking of which, that terrace view is something else. You can see the Koutoubia Mosque’s minaret from up there, and if you time it right around sunset, well… just bring your camera.

What really sets this place apart though is how the staff treats you like family rather than just another tourist. They’ll actually walk you to the main square your first day because — let’s be honest — finding your way back through those winding medina streets can be pretty intimidating at first. Bab Kechiche is one of the smaller gates into the old city, so you’re not dealing with the tourist crowds you get near Jemaa el-Fnaa, but you’re still only about a ten-minute walk to all the action. The location is sort of perfect actually — close enough that you can easily explore the souks and grab dinner at those little hole-in-the-wall places that serve the best tagines, but far enough that you can actually sleep at night without the constant buzz of scooters and street vendors. I stayed there during Ramadan once, and even with all the late-night festivities, it was surprisingly peaceful. The traditional architecture means thick walls, which helps a lot with noise. Just a heads up though — like most riads, the rooms can be a bit dark during the day since they face inward, but honestly, that’s part of the charm and keeps things cool when it’s scorching outside.

Reviews of Riad Vert

  • Beautiful Riad, friendly staff – Rebecca from Australia – 12 June 2025 (9/10)

Very beautiful Riad and the staff were very friendly. Thank you for making our stay wonderful.

What could be improved: Everything was great!

  • Beautiful, well kept Riad with friendly staff – Maddy from United Kingdom – 9 May 2025 (10/10)

The Riad was amazing we had an excellent stay and Nadia was so friendly and helpful, letting us stay longer on the terrace after check out as my partner was unwell (and giving him a tea!) the room was lovely and the food was really good as well!

What could be improved: Everything was of a high standard and we didn’t experience any issues in the area but it is about 15 min walk into the centre of the Medina, but that wasn’t an issue for us and we felt safe walking around!

  • The staff was AMAZING! So helpful and kind. – Emma from United States – 23 March 2025 (10/10)

The property was beautiful and in a great location (about 15min walk from everything). It was away from the city so it was extremely peaceful. Felt extremely safe.

  • Beautiful place with amazing staff – Maël from Belgium – 17 March 2025 (9/10)

Super friendly people in a very beautiful riad on a special location. We loved the food! It really was amazing. So nice that at night and in the early morning they ask the guests to be quiet.

What could be improved: Room a bit small, and no real window but it was okay for 1 night.

  • We enjoyed our stay at Riad Vert – Hellem from United States – 14 March 2025 (9/10)

During our stay at Riad Vert in Marrakesh, we enjoyed a truly memorable experience. The riad is ideally located in the heart of the Medina, offering a peaceful retreat away from the hustle and bustle of Jemaa El-Fnaa. Despite being just a short distance from the lively square, the riad provided a quiet and serene atmosphere, allowing us to relax after a day of exploring the vibrant city. The riad itself was a beautiful blend of traditional Moroccan architecture and modern comforts. From the intricate tilework to the nice courtyard, every corner was thoughtfully designed to make us feel at home. A highlight of our stay was the exceptional hospitality provided by Nadia. She was incredibly attentive and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. Whether it was offering valuable insights into the best local attractions, arranging transportation, or simply making us feel welcome, Nadia’s warm and personalized service truly made our visit special. Riad Vert provided the perfect balance of tranquility and convenience, and we would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing stay in Marrakesh, away from the crowds but still close to the action. Our time there was unforgettable, and we’re grateful for Nadia’s hospitality.

What could be improved: We had to take a taxi every time we had to go back to the Riad at night.

  • Beatiful riad with friendly staff – Anna from United Kingdom – 4 December 2024 (10/10)

The Riad is lovely, with a nice central courtyard for meals and a beautiful rooftop area. The staff are so helpful and friendly, explaining everything, organising taxis and transfers and even making us mint tea when we got home late one evening. The location is great, just 20 minutes walk from the souks and Jemaa El Fna square.

What could be improved: When travelling home late at night it’s best to get a taxi as it felt a little too far to walk. It’s easy to get a taxi from the main square though so wasn’t a major issue.

  • Exceptional – Wells from United Kingdom – 25 April 2024 (10/10)

This place is amazing. Nadia, Pauline and their staff cannot do enough for you. Amazing homemade food, great mint tea, wonderful Riad in a great location, totally walkable to most places, and if not they will arrange taxi's for you for a really good price. The delicious homemade breakfast was included and they will cook a beautiful traditional dinner for you for a reasonable price too. Located within the medina so you get such a feel for life there – its bonkers and we loved it, but we did appreciate the calmness of the riad after a day in the city. This riad twinned with the chaos of the markets and buzzing city energy are a great combination, i would definitely recommend.
