Riad Villa Wengé & Spa Overview
You know what struck me first about Riad Villa Wengé & Spa? The fact that it’s tucked away on Derb Messfioui in the Rahab quarter – honestly, if you don’t know the medina well, you’ll probably walk past that narrow entrance three times before you find it. But that’s actually perfect because it means you’re staying in the real Marrakech, not some tourist bubble. The driver will have to drop you at the main street (cars can’t get through those alleys anyway), and then it’s about a two-minute walk through passages that feel like they haven’t changed in centuries.
The riad itself is one of those places that makes you understand why people fall in love with traditional Moroccan architecture. The courtyard – well, it’s not huge, but there’s something about the proportions that just works. The zellige tiles have that handmade irregularity that you can’t fake, and the carved plasterwork has this warm, lived-in quality that newer places never quite capture. What really impressed me was how they’ve integrated modern comfort without losing the soul of the place. The spa, for instance, is built into what feels like ancient stone chambers, but the treatment rooms have proper ventilation and lighting – small details that matter when you’re trying to relax. I mean, nothing ruins a massage like feeling like you’re in a dungeon, right?
The staff here actually knows the neighborhood, which sounds basic but isn’t always the case. They’ll tell you that the bread guy comes by around 7 AM (his cart has a distinctive bell), and that the little café two streets over makes the best mint tea in the quarter – but only in the afternoons when the old man is working. That 9.4 rating makes sense once you’ve been there a few days. It’s not flashy or trying too hard, just consistently good at the things that matter. The rooms stay cool even in summer heat, the hot water actually works (not a given in older riads), and there’s this subtle attention to detail in everything from the breakfast setup to how they handle laundry. The location puts you right in the heart of things without the chaos of being too close to Jemaa el-Fnaa – you can hear the call to prayer from the nearby mosque, but you’re not dealing with the late-night noise from the main tourist areas. Honestly, it’s the kind of place where you end up extending your stay because leaving feels like abandoning a secret you’ve discovered.

Reviews of Riad Villa Wengé & Spa
Lovely riad – Philip from United Kingdom – 1 July 2025 (9/10)
We enjoyed our stay, excellent location. Our room was very comfortable, great AC, which was definitely needed! Lovely breakfasts. Aziz was amazing – he must never sleep! Abdul was very helpful and informative.
What could be improved: The TV needed constant tuning. It took 2 days to be assisted with this. It then needed tuning every time just to be able to watch anything.
It would have been nice to have more shaded areas on the roof terrace other than the 2 beds. It was disappointing not to be able to sit up there in the afternoonSuperb – Grégoire from France – 27 June 2025 (9/10)
Perfect location
Beautiful terrace with a Jacuzzi
What could be improved: The 2 birds in a cage in the patio were making noise in the morningExceptional – Andrew from United Kingdom – 25 June 2025 (10/10)
Thank you for making our stay so comfortable and enjoyable. The location was great (albeit slightly tricky to find after a very early morning flight!).
The service was excellent and staff very friendly.
I'm happy to recommend this Riad to anyone.Moroccan luxury made perfect by an exceptional staff! – Lisa from United States – 23 June 2025 (10/10)
Look no further if you want an authentic RIAD experience!. Riad Villa Wengé & Spa exceeded our expectations in every way!
The staff is attentive, informed, friendly, and dedicated to making your stay outstanding in every way! Manager Abdul and the other two staff men were always happy to help and cheerful. Before we arrived we received a suggested itinerary and we were so happy not to have to arrange any details. A driver picked us up from the airport at 11:30 at night. A man met us in the market and hauled our bags and led us to the riad, we enjoyed atv ride in the desert, a camel ride in the desert, an early morning hot air balloon ride, a guided tour of the city with an incredible guide Abdellah who knows English, French and Italian. He customized our tour to our photographic sensibility and he has his graduate degrees in Moroccan Culture and Tourism. The Riad is close to the square and all of the shops as well. Breakfast in the courtyard is a delight! and the house birds serenade you while you eat. We also enjoyed a massage treatment and a private dinner after one of our days. The property is gorgeous. The location is central. But the staff make all the difference! *This is not for people who want TV's on every wall and feel like they are in America. This is for people who want to experience a luxury Moroccan experience.
What could be improved: If only I could have stayed longer!Exceptional – Kseniia from France – 19 June 2025 (10/10)
Clean, cute, has everything you might need, the stuff is absolutely amazing
What could be improved: Was a bit hard to find at first, but once you know the location it’s pretty easyBeautiful riad, nice breakfast and very caring staff! Only thing we regretted was not staying here longer. – Niki from Germany – 16 June 2025 (10/10)
The entire riad including the room is spotless and absolutely beautiful. The staff is incredible attentive and very kind.
What could be improved: Located right inside of the market can make the property a bit hard to find/get to, but once you’re inside you’re met with a peace and tranquility that lets you forget about the way there anyway.10/10 – Bryony from United Kingdom – 13 June 2025 (10/10)
Really helpful staff, super clean, beautifully done up, and right in the pedestrian souks in the Medina
What could be improved: NothingWould definitely recommend! – Hannah from United Kingdom – 12 June 2025 (9/10)

What could be improved: A little tricky to find.Amazing, enjoyed. Highly recommended – Saad from United Kingdom – 11 June 2025 (10/10)
Everything, the staff, the location, the environment, the room, the aesthetically pleasing riad exceeded our expectations. The whole experience was sublime and amazing.
What could be improved: Nothing. Everything was amazing and spectacularTranquil, beautiful, and very welcoming. – Sophie from United Kingdom – 10 June 2025 (9/10)
This is a beautiful riad which matches its pictures perfectly. A tranquil and calm setting with kind staff and very comfortable beds. I felt very well looked after by all of the staff, and enjoyed the breakfast each day. I was served mint tea on arrival which was a lovely touch. The bedroom was beautiful and very well decorated, with a stylish shower / bathroom. I travelled around for 10 nights (staying here for around half of the trip) and this was by far my favourite place to stay of all.
What could be improved: I would’ve liked a few more shaded areas on the roof terrace, but I did visit when it was very very warm!
