So I stumbled across Riad Zahra Marrakech Piscine during one of those “let’s just wander and see what happens” trips through the Medina, and honestly? It’s tucked away on Avenue Bab El Khemis in a spot that feels authentically local without being too far from the action. You know how some riads try so hard to be Instagram-perfect that they lose their soul? This isn’t one of those places.

The first thing that hits you is actually the sound – or lack of it. Despite being reasonably close to the medina’s chaos, once you’re inside the courtyard, there’s this lovely bubble of calm that only traditional riad architecture can create. The piscine (that’s the pool, obviously) is genuinely refreshing, not just some tiny decorative thing you can’t actually use. I mean, after spending hours getting delightfully lost in the souks nearby, you’ll appreciate having somewhere to actually cool off. The staff here seem to get that balance between being helpful and not hovering – they’ll point you toward the better tagine spots in the neighborhood (there’s this little place about a ten-minute walk toward Bab El Khemis gate that locals actually eat at) but won’t try to book everything for you.

What I really liked was how the place feels lived-in rather than museum-perfect. The traditional tilework has that slightly worn patina that tells you it’s real, not some Vegas version of Morocco. The rooms are comfortable without being fancy – think solid 4-star territory, which honestly matches the vibe perfectly. You’re not paying for marble everything, but you’re getting character and that genuine riad experience with the central courtyard and rooms opening onto it. The 7.6 rating actually makes sense when you consider it’s not trying to be the most luxurious option in Marrakech, but rather a really solid choice that won’t break the bank. Some mornings you’ll hear the call to prayer drifting over the walls, and instead of feeling intrusive, it just adds to that sense of being somewhere real rather than a tourist bubble. The location on Avenue Bab El Khemis means you can walk to the main medina attractions, but you’re also close enough to some of the more residential areas where you’ll see actual daily life happening – women buying vegetables, kids playing football in small squares, that sort of thing. Just be prepared for the usual riad quirks: rooms can be a bit dark (traditional architecture wasn’t big on windows), and if you’re used to modern hotel efficiency, the charming old-world pace might take some adjustment.

  The gated community is really convenient. There's easy parking and access to stores and good quality restaurants. The Riad style apartment is also very suited for our family of 6 people and we had a lot of space.
  
  What could be improved: Some facilities are broken such as a toilet seat. The owner was informed so that they could be repaired for future guests.

  Muy buena ubicación. Apartado del caos de Marrakech pero con todos los servicios. Riad muy amplia y bonita y la zona de las piscinas genial.
  
  What could be improved: La conservación del edificio. Los baños estaban todos un poco hechos polvo aunque limpios. Uno de los dos días que estuvimos allí la piscina estuvo cerrada por mantenimiento.

  C'était splendide !
  L'accueil de la personne était très chaleureux. Elle nous attendait devant l'entrée principale du complexe touristique ou quaria syahia pour nous diriger vers notre riad dans lequel nous avons passé deux belles nuits de mille et une nuits.
  La climatisation était au rendez-vous car il faisait très chaud à Marrakech. La propreté rien à dire.
  Les ustensiles culinaires bien soignés et diversifiés.
  La machine à café électrique ne fonctionne plus cependant il y a eu une cafetière à l'italienne de remplacement.
  Un conseil à ceux et celles qui voudraient visiter Marrakech :Evitez de visiter cette ville les mois 07 et 08 à cause de la canicule qui vous oblige de rester à la maison toute la journée mais sortir uniquement le soir pour aller voir quelques places ou monuments qui restent ouverts le soir.
