Riad Zazz Overview
You know what struck me first about Riad Zazz? The location is absolutely perfect if you actually want to experience the real medina without being right in the chaos of Jemaa el-Fna. It’s tucked away on derb zenka deyka in the Riad Zitoun el Jadid area – honestly, this is one of those addresses that sounds impossible to find, but once you’re there, you realize it’s this perfect sweet spot. Close enough to walk to the main square in about ten minutes, but far enough that you’re not dealing with the constant noise and tourist hustle.
The thing about staying in a traditional riad is that you’re either going to love it or feel claustrophobic, and Riad Zazz definitely falls into the “you’ll love it” category. The courtyard design means everything faces inward, which creates this incredibly peaceful atmosphere – I mean, you step off the narrow medina street and suddenly you’re in this serene oasis with that classic Moroccan tile work and the sound of water trickling from the fountain. The rooms have that authentic feel without being uncomfortable (you know how some “authentic” places sacrifice basic comfort for atmosphere). Air conditioning actually works well, which matters more than you’d think when you’re there in summer.
Getting there is part of the adventure, honestly. The taxi will drop you at the edge of the medina, and then you’re walking through these narrow alleys with your luggage. It sounds daunting, but the staff will actually meet you at a landmark nearby if you call ahead – they’re used to this dance. The check-in process was smooth, and the guy who showed us around knew his stuff about the local area. He gave us actual useful tips about which hammams to try and where to eat that wasn’t just tourist traps.
What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night. Sure, you’ll hear the call to prayer (which is actually pretty beautiful), but unlike some places closer to the main square, you’re not dealing with late-night partying or constant moped traffic. The rooftop terrace is where you want to be for breakfast – you can see across the medina rooftops toward the Atlas Mountains on clear days. The food was solid traditional Moroccan fare, nothing revolutionary but well-prepared and fresh.
The 9.1 rating makes sense when you consider what you’re getting for a 4-star riad. It’s not luxury in the Western hotel sense, but it’s authentic luxury – beautiful craftsmanship, genuine hospitality, and that sense of place you can’t get at international chain hotels. The staff genuinely cares about your experience, which goes a long way when you’re navigating the medina for the first time. Just don’t expect everything to run on Swiss precision – this is Morocco, and part of the charm is the more relaxed pace of things.

Beautiful and clean riad in a strategic position, with comfortable and clean rooms. Breakfast is good. The highlight is the staff, which is always very helpful, welcoming and friendly.
What could be improved: The first night we were assigned a room without window, which was quite small, but upon request the staff changed our room from the second nightJust perfect 👌🏼 – Corinna from Austria – 3 May 2025 (10/10)
Everything—from the service to the lovely breakfast on the rooftop terrace and the warm hospitality—was perfect. We couldn’t have asked for a better start to our vacation. Thank you for this amazing experience. PS Try the message at the Spa next door – wow!

Great value! Some reviews with similar room type mentioned no windows. We had one – admittedly onto the common space. It did leave it dark in the room – though also much quieter than other places we stayed. Staff were super friendly and nice and gave lots of suggestions.
What could be improved: Bathroom was super tiny.Superb – Tess from Ireland – 24 April 2025 (9/10)
Staff was fantastic. Location wonderful!
Beautiful riad in great location – Rebecca from United Kingdom – 9 April 2025 (10/10)
The loveliest Riad very close to the main square in Marrakech. The location was perfect, although difficult to find, but the staff couldn’t have been kinder by meeting us in a cafe to take us to the road and then organising and taking us to our taxi back to the airport. The rooftop is amazing with a plunge pool, loungers, and panoramic views. Breakfast on the rooftop was the real highlight. We stayed in 3 different riads during our stay in Marrakech, all of which were lovely, but Riad Zazz was definitely the best of them all. We would highly recommend this riad.

Location was an easy walk to the Medina, breakfast was tasty, staff were very helpful and made our stay extra special! My partner organised proposing to me on their rooftop terrace which was very special. We really appreciated their help!
A fantastic trip. – Isabella from United Kingdom – 27 March 2025 (9/10)
The breakfast was delicious and we were able to eat in the sunshine on the roof every morning. The location was also very good, close to the main square and also to the pick up point for excursions.
What could be improved: Our room was on the small side, but it was a good value option so this was not a problem at all.Very enjoyable – Annette from United Kingdom – 26 March 2025 (10/10)
Excellent nothing was to much trouble, even gave us a to go breakfast because we were up early to get bus to Essaouira
