You know what struck me first about Riad Zinoun? The fact that it’s tucked away on Derb Ben Amrane in a way that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something special, even though — let’s be honest — plenty of people have found this gem already. The narrow alley approach is classic Medina, and I mean that in the best way possible. You’ll hear the call to prayer from nearby mosques in the morning, but it’s not overwhelming like it can be closer to Jemaa el-Fnaa.

The riad itself is one of those places that actually delivers on the whole “authentic Moroccan experience” thing without feeling like a theme park. With just 11 rooms, it’s intimate enough that the staff genuinely remembers your name and how you take your mint tea. The traditional architecture is gorgeous — think hand-carved cedar, intricate zellige tilework, and that central courtyard that becomes your little oasis. I loved how they’ve managed to blend the historical elements with modern comfort (the spa is honestly fantastic, and the hammam experience is the real deal). The rooftop terrace gives you those postcard views of the Atlas Mountains on clear days, plus it’s perfect for evening drinks when the Medina starts to cool down.

What really sets this place apart is the location within Riad Zitoun Kedim. You’re deep enough in the Medina to feel authentic, but close enough to the main souks that you won’t get completely lost trying to find your way back after dinner. The neighborhood has this lived-in feeling — you’ll see kids playing in the alleys and women chatting on doorsteps, which I find way more charming than the tourist-heavy areas. Fair warning though: like most riads, the rooms can be on the smaller side, and the traditional layout means some get more natural light than others. But honestly, you’re not here to hang out in your room anyway. The common areas are where this place really shines, especially that gorgeous dining room where they serve what might be the best tagine I had in Marrakech. The 9-star rating makes total sense once you experience the level of personal attention — they’ll arrange everything from airport transfers to day trips to the desert, and they actually know what they’re talking about instead of just handing you a generic brochure.

  I cannot thank the staff of our Riad Zinoun in Marrakech enough for the unforgettable experience we had! Mohammed, Ishmael, and Amina — we will always remember you. From the moment we arrived, you made our stay truly special.
  
  I was a bit anxious coming from the U.S. and flying into Casablanca, unsure of how we’d handle transportation and logistics. But reaching out to the Riad directly was the best decision — everything was arranged so smoothly. A driver was waiting for us, and when we wanted to book excursions to the Atlas Mountains and Agafay Desert, Mohammed went above and beyond to organize it all.
  
  On our first night, they prepared a delicious traditional tagine dinner for us — it was absolutely incredible. We highly recommend having at least one dinner at the Riad — it was one of the best meals we had during our entire trip. Breakfast each morning was equally amazing, served in a traditional Moroccan style and full of rich, local flavors.
  
  What made this stay even more meaningful was the genuine connection. Mohammed was close in age to my kids, and they really bonded. The warmth and hospitality we felt were beyond anything we expected.
  
  The Riad itself is beautiful, very authentic, and located in a peaceful part of the Medina — yet still close to everything we wanted to explore. And beyond the Riad, we found the people of Marrakech to be incredibly welcoming, chill, and friendly — we truly felt at home in this vibrant city.

  I had such a wonderful stay at Riad Zinoun that I came back and stayed an extra night. Beautiful Riad and roof terrace, comfortable and spacious rooms, mint tea on arrival and they were very helpful and accomodating with my dietary needs and my early morning departure. Incredible location in the Medina and really quiet. Highly recommend 🙂

  We had a wonderful stay in this riad. The rooms are beautiful and authentic, it has a big terrace on the top overlooking Marrakech. The riad is very well located and relatively easy to find, right next to the main square. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and answered all our questions and requests. The breakfast was delicious and homemade. Overall, we had an amazing stay in this riad and in Marrakech. Can only recommend!

  Great little property, with a good quality/price ratio. The location is very central, though the small alley to reach it might deter some people at first sight, though it is very safe. Rooms are large, clean and comfortable. Staff is friendly. The place is very quiet, you can hear birds singing! I can't really evaluate breakfast as I only order coffee and bread but it looked very good on other tables. 2 nice features to highlight: a large, comfortable patio and a large rooftop.
