Look, I’ve stayed at my fair share of places in Marrakech, but this apartment on Rue Yves Saint Laurent actually caught me off guard – and I mean that in the best way possible. The moment you walk in, you’re hit with these massive windows that frame the Majorelle Gardens like they’re paintings on the wall. I’m not exaggerating here; you literally wake up to those impossibly blue walls and exotic plants that made Yves Saint Laurent fall in love with this city in the first place.

What really gets me is how the owner managed to nail that sweet spot between authentic Moroccan style and modern comfort. The apartment feels lived-in but polished, you know? There’s this gorgeous traditional tilework in the bathroom, but the kitchen actually has appliances that work (trust me, this isn’t always a given in Marrakech). The best part though – and this is something you can’t get from the photos – is sitting on that little balcony in the early morning with your coffee, watching the gardens wake up before the tour groups arrive. The YSL Museum is literally across the street, which sounds like it might be touristy and crowded, but honestly it just means you’re in the heart of one of the most beautiful pockets of Gueliz.

I’ll be real with you – the location is everything here. You’re about a 10-minute walk from the medina when you want that authentic chaos, but when you need to decompress (and you will), you can retreat to this peaceful corner where the only sounds are birds from the gardens and the occasional call to prayer drifting over from the old city. The Résidence Taissir Majorelle itself is well-maintained, parking isn’t the nightmare it is in other parts of the city, and the neighbors are a mix of locals and long-term expats who actually care about keeping things nice. Pro tip: if you’re planning to visit during the high season, book the morning slots at Majorelle early – being this close means you can literally walk over and be first in line, which makes all the difference when you’re trying to get those Instagram shots without fifty other people in the background. The whole experience just feels more authentic than those big resort hotels in Hivernage, and honestly, at this price point with these views, I’m not sure why you’d stay anywhere else.

  The apartment is beautifully decorated, bright and in a wonderful location overlooking the Majorelle Gardens. What made the stay even more exceptional was the owner, Sabrina. Delightful, communicative, and extremely helpful. She even left us water and a big bowl of fruit. We would definitely stay there again.
