The Loft Overview
You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first walked down Rue Kennaria – honestly, the medina can be hit or miss with accommodations, and sometimes these converted riads try too hard to be something they’re not. But The Loft actually surprised me in the best way possible. The entrance is pretty understated (which I sort of love), and you’re literally steps away from the main souks without being right in the chaos. I mean, you can still hear the call to prayer from nearby mosques, but it’s not overwhelming like some places closer to Jemaa el-Fnaa.
What really got me was how they’ve managed to blend that traditional Moroccan architecture with genuinely modern comfort – and I’m picky about this stuff. The rooms have this airy, minimalist vibe that actually works with the traditional tadelakt walls, not against them. Air conditioning that properly works (trust me, this matters in summer), and the beds are legitimately comfortable, not just decent-for-Morocco comfortable. The rooftop terrace is where you’ll probably spend your evenings though – you get these amazing views over the medina rooftops, and when the Atlas Mountains are clear in the distance… well, it’s pretty spectacular. Fair warning though: it gets busy up there around sunset, so stake out your spot early if you’re there during peak season.
The staff here actually know their stuff about the neighborhood, which isn’t always a given. They pointed me toward this tiny spice shop on Rue Riad Zitoun el-Kedim that I never would have found otherwise, and gave me the real scoop on which hammams are worth your time (spoiler: skip the touristy ones near the main square). Location-wise, you’re about a 10-minute walk to the main action, but here’s the thing – that’s perfect. Close enough that you’re not taking taxis everywhere, far enough that you can actually sleep at night. The narrow streets around here are quieter after about 9 PM, which was honestly a relief after spending days in the medina madness. One small thing – if you’re coming with big luggage, just know that the final stretch involves some narrow alleyways, so pack light or be prepared for a bit of a trek from where taxis can drop you. But honestly? That’s pretty standard for the medina, and the trade-off for the location and authentic feel is totally worth it.

Superb location!! – Paulina from Poland – 18 April 2025 (8/10)
Location!!! We're right around the corner from the Square 😍 private rooftop area, nice decor.
Comfortable beds.
What could be improved: Rooftop area could be kept better. No loungers linings, we used blankets from the flat.
Kitchen didn't have enough equipment, no sharp knife to cut fruits, etc. Only one butter knife.
Microwave not working.great place, with nice handmade decoration, one of the best stays in Morocco, would come back again – Istvan from Austria – 17 April 2025 (8/10)
Great location, beautiful decoration. the design of the house is great, with a central room that has windows on top level, making it well lit. Rami is very helpful and friendly, he helped us out quickly when water entered the room during a great thunderstorm when some window wasn't closed.
What could be improved: kitchen wasn't very well equipped, roof terrace was not very well maintained, lights were weak in the evening.Best option there – Ana from United Kingdom – 9 April 2025 (8/10)
The host was very friendly and helpful. The place was beautiful, clean and confortable. The only problem was that the wifi was not working properly and that wouldn't be a problem in our continent as we can just live with phone data. But being in another continent with no wifi and no data, It was a big issue for us. Still, I would repeat if I go again.
