Tiguemine Sarah Overview
Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of places around Marrakech, but Tiguemine Sarah honestly caught me off guard – and I mean that in the best possible way. When you’re heading out to Ghmate (about 30 minutes from the medina’s chaos), you start wondering if you made the right call booking somewhere this far out. But then you pull up to Douar el Briza, and suddenly you get it. This isn’t just another riad trying to capitalize on Morocco’s tourism boom – it’s actually run by people who care about what they’re doing.
The thing that hits you first is how quiet it is. I mean, properly quiet. No scooters honking at 6 AM, no calls to prayer echoing off narrow walls (though you can still hear them faintly in the distance if you’re into that). Sarah – yeah, it’s actually named after the owner’s daughter – sits in this little village where you’ll see more donkeys than taxis, which honestly becomes part of the charm after a day or two. The rooms are spacious in a way that makes you realize how cramped those Instagram-famous riads in the medina actually are. Everything feels authentic without being rustic to the point of inconvenience, you know? The beds are legitimately comfortable (not just “good for Morocco” comfortable), and the bathrooms have proper water pressure – trust me, after a few days of exploring the Atlas foothills, you’ll appreciate a decent shower.
What really gets me is how the staff treats you like you’re staying with family rather than checking items off a hospitality checklist. They’ll actually sit down and draw you a proper map to the Saturday souk in Ghmate (which, by the way, is way more authentic than anything you’ll find in Marrakech proper), and they know exactly which taxis to call when you want to head into the city. The breakfast situation is… well, it’s sort of legendary among people who’ve stayed here. Fresh bread that’s still warm, local honey that tastes like it came from hives right down the road, and mint tea that’ll spoil you for the tourist-trap versions forever. The 9.8 rating isn’t some fluke – it’s what happens when a place consistently does the small things right without making a big deal about it. Sure, you’ll need to plan your Marrakech day trips a bit more carefully since you’re not walking distance from Jemaa el-Fnaa, but honestly? Coming back to this peaceful little corner of Morocco each evening, watching the sun set over the olive groves while the city crowd fights over restaurant tables – it’s exactly the kind of travel experience that reminds you why you started exploring in the first place.

Exceptional – Samya from Morocco – 8 July 2025 (10/10)
I booked for my parents, they loved staying there. The owners are +++ with their kindness and hospitality.
Beautiful hotel – Rachel from United Kingdom – 10 June 2025 (10/10)
The staff were really responsive before I arrived, patiently answering all my questions about travelling in Morocco.
They arranged a good taxi driver for transfers from Essaouira and a trip to Imlil.
The food was delicious and they were really kind to buy my child an ice-cream!
We went swimming in the lovely pool multiple times a day.
The hotel is really beautiful. The room and bathroom were lovely.
I would stay here again and recommend it to others. We really enjoyed our stay.
What could be improved: I hadn't really appreciated beforehand how the cost of taxis would mount up. It would be better I think for people who have a car.A little slice of paradise – Lucinda from Qatar – 30 May 2025 (10/10)
Gardens are beautiful and there are so many lovely spots to relax in. The hosts are also amazing and went above and beyond to ensure we were well looked after. The meals were also delicious, lovely fresh salads and pastries. Wish we could have stayed longer!
The best place to stay in Marrakesh! – Clementina from United Kingdom – 22 May 2025 (10/10)
I loved everything about staying at the hotel! The room was so spacious and lovely. The staff, Laila, Gigi, even down to the dogs, were so friendly and welcoming. They even organised a surprise for me on my birthday which was so lovely. The location is perfect and there’s a dedicated cab person (Azizz) that can take you around the city and on tours.
What could be improved: There’s absolutely nothing to hate about Tiguemine Sarah!A wonderful place to stay when visiting Marrakech – Lisa from United Kingdom – 2 May 2025 (10/10)
The Riad is clean and comfortable and the 20 metre pool is a real bonus. it is a calm relaxing place to stay with no noise from the other rooms as with a big hotel, and beautiful bird song to wake up to. The food is delicious but what really makes this place special are the owners, Laura and François and the wider family and staff who run the Riad. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they treat every guest like family. There is a lovely driver Abdellaziz who will take you anywhere you want to go. As a solo traveller I felt safe and so well cared for.

From start to finish our stay was perfection – Leila and family made us feel right at home from the moment we walked in (including making me not one, but two, birthday cakes!). The food was excellent, the property gorgeous (like a little oasis outside the hustle of Marrakech), plus some very cute dogs to cuddle. We can’t wait to come back.
What could be improved: NothingA stunning retreat – Rimmer from United Kingdom – 19 April 2025 (9/10)
Lovely people and a beautiful setting looking out towards the Atlas mountains.
The home cooked dishes are wonderful.
Leila and the family were always on hand for anything you may need and have reliable contacts for taxis (35min away from the Medina).
The hotel has a lovely pool and only a handful of rooms so you feel as though you are always their priority. Our room (room2) overlooked the pool, fields and mountains – stunning!
In a nutshell, this place is an oasis from the madness of the Medina and you can almost call it a home from home even if your stay is just a couple of nights. A real gem 💎

"This was an absolutely exceptional stay in Marrakech!
The people who run this hotel have created an environment where you truly feel at home. Their kindness, warmth, and genuine hospitality were beyond compare. They went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect in every way.
We were particularly touched by the three wonderful sisters. Zara is a culinary genius, crafting the most incredible meals we've ever tasted – her food is truly out of this world!
Jameela, whose name fittingly means 'beautiful' in Arabic, is an absolute angel and radiated kindness.
Leila, who always prepared our delicious breakfasts, is another gem who brought a sense of peace to everyone she interacted with.
We also had the pleasure of meeting their brother, Hoba. His complete fluency in English, along with his wisdom and philosophical insights, made for truly enjoyable conversations.
Francois, a very cultured gentleman, served us wine with such grace and a smile that we thoroughly enjoyed our evenings. It's difficult to put into words just how fantastic this experience was. If I could give them a thousand stars instead of five, I absolutely would.
The hotel also offers convenient taxi services, and we were fortunate to have Ismail as our guide and driver – he was top-notch! Abdelaziz, who manages the taxis, was also excellent.
The prices for food and drinks at the hotel are incredibly reasonable, especially considering the exceptional quality. This will be the best hotel experience of your life, and I can't wait to return!"
What could be improved: NOTHING! NOTHING IS BAD HERE! TRUST MEVery pleasant stay – Siegfried from Italy – 4 April 2025 (10/10)
The hosts are welcoming and very helpful. Breakfast and dinner were delicious. The location ideal, it is close to Marrakech and close to the Atlas Mountains. A very pleasant stay.
