We’re talking hand-carved wooden screens, intricate zellige tilework, and those gorgeous arched doorways that make you feel like you’re living in a riad without the tourist crowds constantly walking past your door.

The location is actually brilliant if you know what you’re getting into. You’re about a 15-minute taxi ride from Jemaa el-Fnaa (always negotiate the price beforehand, trust me), but here’s the thing – you’re surrounded by palm groves and it’s genuinely peaceful. I mean, you can actually hear birds in the morning instead of motor scooters, which is sort of miraculous for Marrakech. The complex has good security, which matters more than you might think, and parking isn’t the nightmare it can be in the medina. What really sold me was the terrace space – you can sit out there in the evenings with mint tea and actually see stars, something that’s pretty tough to do in the city center with all the light pollution.

The apartment itself feels authentic without being uncomfortable, if that makes sense. The kitchen is fully equipped (and I actually used it, unlike most hotel kitchenettes), the bathroom has proper water pressure, and the air conditioning works well – crucial during those scorching summer months. I stayed there in March, which is honestly the perfect time to visit because the weather’s warm but not overwhelming, and you can still enjoy walking around the grounds. The only minor thing I’d mention is that it’s quite quiet at night, which most people will love, but if you’re someone who wants to stumble back from the night markets at 2 AM, you’ll need to arrange transport. The staff at the complex are helpful with taxi calls, though, and they know the reliable drivers. What really impressed me was how they maintained that traditional Moroccan aesthetic while making sure everything actually works – the wifi is solid, the hot water is consistent, and there’s proper storage space for your stuff. It’s one of those places where you can live like a local but still have the backup of hotel-style services when you need them.
