You know what caught me off guard about this place? It’s actually tucked away on Rue Ibn Zohair, which honestly feels like a bit of a hidden gem once you figure out where you’re going. I mean, the first time I was looking for it, I walked past twice because it doesn’t scream “tourist apartment” from the street – and that’s exactly why I ended up loving it.

The whole setup is this gorgeous riad-style building that’s been converted into apartments, but they kept all the good stuff – the traditional tiles, those impossibly high ceilings, and this courtyard garden that becomes your personal oasis. The pool isn’t huge (let’s be realistic here), but it’s perfect for cooling off after wandering through the souks all morning, and the garden around it has this mix of palm trees and local plants that actually provides decent shade. What really got me was how quiet it gets in there – you’re maybe a fifteen-minute walk from Jemaa el-Fnaa, but once you’re behind those walls, the city noise just… disappears. Well, except for the call to prayer, but that’s part of the charm, right?

The apartment itself feels properly Moroccan without being too theme-park about it. The kitchen is actually functional (I made breakfast there several times), and the living areas have these beautiful traditional archways and local textiles that feel authentic rather than staged. Air conditioning works well too, which – trust me – you’ll appreciate in summer. The whole place sleeps about four people comfortably, and there’s enough space that you don’t feel cramped even when everyone’s getting ready to head out. One thing I really appreciated was how the owners clearly know their stuff about hosting international guests – check-in was smooth, they gave solid local recommendations, and when I had a question about getting to the airport, they sorted it out immediately.

Location-wise, you’re in this sweet spot where you can walk to most of the main sights, but you’re not dealing with the constant hustle of being right in the medina center. There’s a small café about two blocks away that does incredible mint tea and pastries for breakfast, and if you head toward Avenue Mohammed V, you’ll hit some decent restaurants that aren’t just tourist traps. The neighborhood has this lived-in feel – you’ll see families going about their day, kids playing in the streets, that sort of thing. Parking can be a bit tricky if you’re renting a car, but honestly, in Marrakech you’re better off walking or taking petit taxis anyway.
