Villa Amira & Spa Overview

So I stumbled onto Villa Amira & Spa almost by accident – you know how it is when you’re wandering around Marrakech and suddenly find yourself on rue Sakia el Hamra, this quieter street that feels like it’s hiding something good. And honestly, this place delivers on that promise. It’s got that whole riad vibe going on but without feeling like you’re staying in someone’s Instagram fantasy.

The first thing that hit me was actually the smell – not jasmine or whatever you’d expect, but this subtle cedar and orange blossom thing that just works. The courtyard’s gorgeous, obviously, but what I really appreciated was how they’ve managed to keep it feeling authentic while still having proper hot water and WiFi that doesn’t make you want to throw your phone across the room. The spa area is where they really shine though – I mean, I’ve done hammams all over Morocco, and theirs is the real deal. None of that tourist-trap nonsense where they rush you through; they actually take their time, and the woman who did my treatment clearly knew what she was doing. Plus, the whole spa stays surprisingly cool even during those brutal afternoon hours when the medina feels like an oven.

What really won me over was the staff’s approach – they’re helpful without being pushy, which is honestly refreshing in a city where everyone’s trying to sell you something. The guy at reception (I think his name was Youssef?) gave me actual directions to places, not just the usual “turn left at the big square” vagueness you get everywhere else. And here’s something practical – they’ve got a small parking arrangement nearby, which if you’ve ever tried to navigate a rental car through Marrakech’s old town, you’ll know is basically priceless. The rooms themselves are well, they’re nice enough – traditional tiles, decent beds, and those thick walls that actually keep the street sounds out. I stayed during Ramadan and barely heard the pre-dawn calls to prayer, which honestly surprised me given how close we were to the mosques. One tiny complaint though – the shower pressure’s a bit weak, but I mean, that’s pretty standard for older buildings in the medina. The whole place just feels like someone put thought into it without trying too hard, if that makes sense. It’s not trying to be the fanciest riad in town, but it nails the things that actually matter when you’re dealing with Marrakech’s intensity and just want somewhere genuine to decompress.

Very clean, it feels like a home. We liked that was around shops and restaurants, also not far from the bus stop that brings you into the Old town .

What could be improved: There isn’t anything to like. So perfect especially the location

  • Best place to stay in Marrakech – James from United Kingdom – 27 April 2025 (10/10)

The villa was in the perfect location in Marrakech which was very peaceful but close enough to the centre to see all the sites of the city. The breakfast was amazing every morning and the staff were very attentive whenever we needed anything. Our room was also perfect which was as authentic as a Riad could be. I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Marrakesh.

What could be improved: Nothing – the property was perfect!

  • A wonderful relaxing week enjoyed all the spa treatments & sunbathing by the private pool. – Shelley from France – 27 April 2025 (9/10)

A beautiful property offering home from home comfort. My room was spacious, quiet & overlooking the swimming pool. All the staff were so friendly & helpful. The Villa is kept immaculately clean.

What could be improved: The property is quite a distance from all the main tourist attractions (apart from the Marjorelle gardens)and consequently one needs to take a taxi each day.

  • Great Authentic Riad – John from United Kingdom – 5 April 2025 (10/10)

Alix and her team were great in our two nights at Villa Amira. The massage was fantastic and good value at 200DM for 30 minutes, breakfast was also great and Alix helped me organise a taxi to other locations that I was travelling to on our trip in Morocco. I recommend.

  • I would highly recommend this place! – Aleksandra from United States – 29 March 2025 (10/10)

    Villa is beautiful and clean.

  • A really nice stay in a riad, with lovely staff. – Denise from United Kingdom – 28 March 2025 (8/10)

Alix really nice and extremely helpful and quickly sorted out anything we needed to know eg getting taxis
    All staff very nice.
    Hammam brilliant

What could be improved: The location was a little bit out of the centre, but taxis are so easy to get and cheap, there was no problem getting anywhere we wanted to go. I would still recommend this property.

  • Amazing, Alix and the staff are so lovely and will do anything to help. The breakfast is also delicious. – Anna from United Kingdom – 25 February 2025 (9/10)

Beautiful building, spacious rooms and the staff were amazing and would do anything to help.

What could be improved: We loved everything but would maybe have liked to have been within walking distance of the main square…we caught InDrives when we could but it was harder to find an InDrive for a family of 5. We caught taxis sometimes too which wasn’t a problem but added up over the week.
