Villa Baraka Overview
So I stumbled across Villa Baraka while looking for something off the beaten path near Marrakech, and honestly? Best accidental discovery ever. This place sits out on the route to Ouarzazate – you know, that dramatic road that cuts through the Atlas Mountains – but it’s technically still in Marrakech’s commune system. The address might look confusing (route warzazate comune wedane douare faide sounds like GPS having a breakdown), but it’s actually in this quiet residential area called Faide that most tourists never see.
The villa itself has this gorgeous traditional Moroccan architecture that doesn’t feel like a museum piece, if you know what I mean. When you walk in, there’s this immediate sense of calm – thick walls keep the heat out during those brutal afternoon hours, and the courtyard design creates these lovely cross-breezes that actually work. The owners clearly know their stuff when it comes to local building techniques. I mean, air conditioning is great and all, but there’s something satisfying about natural cooling that just hits different in Morocco. The rooms are spacious without being cavernous, and the bathrooms – well, let’s just say they understand that travelers want proper water pressure after a long day exploring. The breakfast spread leans heavily into local ingredients, which I appreciated way more than the international buffet nonsense you get at chain hotels.
What really sold me on this place was the location, though. You’re about twenty minutes from the main Marrakech action, but it feels like you’re in a completely different world. The neighborhood is actually where a lot of locals live, so you get authentic glimpses of daily life – kids playing football in the streets, the evening call to prayer echoing from the nearby mosque, women chatting over garden walls. There’s this little convenience store about a five-minute walk away where the owner speaks decent English and stocks everything from phone chargers to decent coffee (trust me, this matters). The villa’s staff gave me solid recommendations for day trips toward Ouarzazate – apparently the road gets pretty spectacular about an hour out, and they know which stops are worth it versus tourist traps. Parking is straightforward, which honestly shocked me after dealing with Marrakech’s medina chaos. The 8.9 rating makes total sense once you’re there; it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Morocco, but everything works exactly as it should. If you want to experience Morocco without feeling like you’re in a travel brochure, this is your spot.

Ideaal voor relaxen buiten de stad. – Youssef from Morocco – 23 June 2025 (9/10)

Avoid at all cost. – Robert from United Kingdom – 3 April 2025 (1/10)
Nothing
What could be improved: Leaking roof through electric lights, damp throughout, fungus on walls, the filters for the pool water don’t seem to work either. We’ve arrived in the late evening and in the morning we booked other place to not ruin our holiday. Owner said he won’t refund but luckily booking did. I’m not exaggerating here’s a link to videos and photos

L’accueil qui nous a été réservé malgré notre arrivée tardive.a lovely place with some minor inconveniences – Simon from Slovenia – 2 March 2025 (10/10)
I really enjoyed my stay at this apartment. It was very spacious, beautifully designed, and had a great ambiance. The breakfast was delicious, and the host was kind and welcoming.
What could be improved: Hot water wasn’t available in every room, the AC heating wasn’t working, and the location is only convenient if you have a car. Overall, a lovely place with some minor inconveniences.Great, lovely peaceful villa – Daniel from United Kingdom – 5 January 2025 (8/10)
The villa was in a lovely quiet and private location. Very peaceful and relaxing. Pool area lovely, great addition swing seat. This was used a lot 🙂 lovely Moroccan feel to the villa interior. Couldn't complain about the look or location and pictures doesn't do this lovely villa enough justice.
What could be improved: We had minor issues with electric, heated water and the general warmth of the villa. We felt uncomfortable most evenings as there was no heating available in the living area. As this is a large villa, bedroom air-conditioning systems aren't enough to heat a whole villa. While our concerns were expressed, the owner and hosts were very quick to help with all issues addressed. We were given a portable gas heater. I think this villa would benefit massively with more heating installed. We appreciate the fast response and help from the hosts and also the kind added surprises we were given as an apology to said issues. I think a great addition would be heated pool. Winter months aren't warm enough and the pool was impossible to get into. Other than this we had a fantastic stay 🙂Great host and great property. An oasis of tranquillity with large pool and brilliant facilities. – Alec from United Kingdom – 23 April 2024 (9/10)
Delicious homemade breakfast, great and helpful host. It is an oasis of tranquillity with a great swimming pool and great facilities. We loved our time here and so did the children. We will be back!
