You know what struck me first about Villa Clos Odette? The name itself – it’s this lovely French touch that somehow fits perfectly in the Targa area of Marrakech. I mean, when you’re wandering through the more residential parts of the city, away from the tourist chaos of the medina, you stumble upon these hidden gems that feel almost too good to be true.

The villa sits on this quiet little street (hence the “clos” – it’s actually a small enclosed road), and honestly, that’s half the magic right there. You’re still in Marrakech, you can still hear the call to prayer echoing across the rooftops, but there’s this sense of stepping into someone’s private world. The whole area around Targa is where you’ll find locals going about their daily business – there’s a fantastic little bakery about two blocks away where the bread is still warm at 7 AM, and the owner will remember your order after just a couple of visits.

What really gets me about this place is how it manages to feel both authentic and polished. The riad-style architecture is gorgeous – those traditional courtyards with the fountain in the center actually work to keep things cool during the scorching afternoon hours. I stayed there in late spring, and while the city was already getting pretty intense heat-wise, the villa’s interior stayed surprisingly comfortable. The staff, well, they’re the kind of people who remember that you like your mint tea extra sweet and will have it ready before you even ask. Check-in was refreshingly smooth – none of that tourist-trap hassle you sometimes get closer to Jemaa el-Fnaa.

The rooms themselves have this perfect balance of Moroccan character and modern comfort. You’ll find beautiful tadelakt walls (that’s the traditional lime plaster technique, if you’re curious) alongside really good WiFi and air conditioning that actually works. The beds are proper comfortable too, which honestly can be hit or miss in some of the more “authentic” places around the city.

What I really appreciate is the location – you’re about a 15-minute taxi ride from the medina’s main attractions, but far enough away that you can actually sleep at night without the constant buzz of scooters and late-night street vendors. The drivers all know the area well, and you’ll typically pay around 20-30 dirhams for the trip into the old city. There’s decent parking if you’re brave enough to rent a car in Morocco (though I’d honestly recommend sticking with taxis and the occasional walking adventure).

The 9.4 rating makes complete sense once you’ve been there – it’s one of those places where every detail feels considered, but not in an over-the-top way. You get the sense that whoever runs this place actually cares about giving you a genuine Marrakech experience, not just checking boxes on a hospitality checklist. It’s the kind of spot where you end up extending your stay if you can, just because leaving feels like abandoning a perfect little sanctuary.

  La maison est bien placé par rapport à la Médina, juste 7km. Facile d’accès. Maison très propre, belle piscine, une belle décoration dans le séjour. Merci à Najete pour ces petits déjeuner et à Moustafa, le gardien qui veillait sur la maison h24. Ce fut un bon séjour , très agréable.

  Najate, Mustafa and driver Abdul were great…very helpful and able to organise all our excursions. The villa is huge as is the pool…a big plus. Lovely garden, and patio…..Great for eating some if Najate home cooked tagine. Great cafe/restaurant at the top of the road btw.

  Hôtes tres agréables et prévenants. Ils ont tout fait pour rendre notre séjour agréable. Une attention particulière est apportée aux petits détails (serviettes, savons, eau, livres…). La villa est exceptionnelle, décorée avec goût, et tres bien équipée. Elle est également très spacieuse, chacun peut avoir son Intimité et ses moments de calme. Le quartier est tres calme et sécurisé. A quelques minutes a pied se trouvent des cafés et restaurants.
  On se sent chez soi et on n'a plus envie de la quitter.
  On y reviendra avec grand plaisir.
