The taxi ride into Jemaa el-Fnaa takes maybe 15 minutes (though good luck explaining the location to drivers – I learned to just show them the address on my phone). What really struck me first was how quiet it gets here in the evenings. You know that constant hum of the city that follows you everywhere in Marrakech? Well, it actually fades to this gentle murmur once you’re settled in their courtyard.

The family-only policy might seem limiting at first, but honestly, it’s genius. I mean, there’s something really special about watching kids splash around in the pool while parents actually relax – you don’t get that stressed-out vibe you find at hotels where business travelers are checking emails poolside at 7 AM. The staff clearly knows how to handle families too, which isn’t always a given. They had extra towels ready without being asked, and when my friend’s toddler inevitably knocked over a glass at breakfast, nobody made a big deal about it. Speaking of breakfast – they serve it in this gorgeous inner courtyard with traditional zellige tilework that catches the morning light just right. The mint tea is properly strong (not that watered-down tourist version), and they actually cook eggs to order instead of that buffet nonsense.

What I really appreciate is that they’ve kept the authentic riad feel without skimping on comfort. The rooms have proper air conditioning – crucial during summer months when Marrakech turns into an oven – and the beds are actually comfortable, not just photogenic. The pool area is where families tend to gather in the late afternoon, and it’s got enough space that it never feels crowded. I noticed they keep the water temperature just right, too, which matters when you’ve got little ones. The location works perfectly for day trips to the Atlas Mountains (the drive to Ourika Valley is stunning), and you’re still close enough to walk the souks when you want that full medina experience. Just be prepared for a bit of a walk back uphill if you’re coming from the main square – nothing too steep, but definitely noticeable after a long day of exploring. It’s one of those places where you can tell the owners actually care about creating something special for families, not just filling rooms.
