Villa Dar Laila Overview
I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Villa Dar Laila on that dusty stretch of Route de Tahanaout, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. The road’s got that authentic Moroccan feel where you’re sharing space with donkey carts and mopeds, but once you turn into the villa’s entrance, it’s like stepping into this incredibly peaceful bubble. The whole place feels like someone’s sophisticated family home that they’ve opened up to guests, which I mean, might actually be the case.
What really got me was how they’ve managed to nail that traditional riad vibe without making it feel like a museum. The courtyard’s got these gorgeous zellige tiles that catch the light just right in the afternoon, and there’s this fountain that’s actually soothing instead of annoying – you know how some water features can drive you crazy at night? This one doesn’t. The rooms wrap around the central space in classic style, but honestly, the renovation work is top-notch. My bathroom had this incredible tadelakt finish that felt smooth as silk, and the shower pressure was better than half the places I’ve stayed in Europe. Small thing, but when you’re dealing with Marrakech dust, a proper shower matters.
The location’s actually pretty clever if you think about it. You’re about twenty minutes from the medina chaos, which means you get the best of both worlds – easy access to Jemaa el-Fnaa and the souks when you want it, but you can escape to genuine quiet when the city gets overwhelming. And it does get overwhelming, trust me. The staff here seems to understand that balance perfectly. They’ll arrange your taxi into town without any fuss, but they’re not constantly hovering or pushing excursions on you. The breakfast spread – well, it’s not huge, but everything’s clearly made with care. Fresh orange juice that’s actually fresh, not from a machine, and they do this msemen that’s crispy on the outside and perfectly flaky inside.
Here’s the thing that really sold me on this place: it’s got that rare quality where you can tell the owners actually care about the experience, not just the booking. The Wi-Fi works properly (crucial for anyone trying to upload photos), the air conditioning doesn’t sound like a helicopter, and when I mentioned I was hoping to catch the sunset from somewhere quiet, they pointed me toward this little terrace area that most guests probably never find. That 9.3 rating? Yeah, it makes sense. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Marrakech – there’s no spa or fancy restaurant – but what it does, it does really well. If you’re looking for that authentic Moroccan experience without sacrificing comfort, and you don’t mind being a bit outside the immediate tourist zone, Villa Dar Laila hits that sweet spot perfectly.

Reviews of Villa Dar Laila
100% recommend staying here if you’re coming to Marrakesh. We absolutely loved it!! – Bilal from United Kingdom – 4 May 2025 (10/10)
We loved our stay at Villa Dar Laila!! Would really recommend to anybody coming to Marrakech.
Pros:
– Facilities: The facilities and grounds are stunning, very clean and well maintained. It feels private, peaceful and spacious. Rooms and bathrooms are very good quality. Even with other guests staying there it doesn’t feel busy or crowded. I think it is an excellent place for families with children to stay! There’s lots of space for the kids to explore and the place is enclosed so they can’t get lost or go near the road. It’s such an amazing space and venue.
– Service: Service and hospitality is excellent, rooms are cleaned daily and staff are always on hand to help (for example, they printed our boarding passes for us, booked airport transfer, they also extended our stay free of charge after our trip got cut short due to flight being cancelled). They are also very thoughtful! It was my parents 30th wedding anniversary and they decorated the room with roses and petals which was a really nice touch that we appreciated.
– Breakfast: The same every day but good quality! Orange juice, yoghurt, breads/pancakes, spreads and fruit. It’s light and just what you need to start the day. You can eat inside or outside.
– Location: Close to the airport, about 15-20min drive
Cons
Location: Unfortunately privacy and space comes at a cost. There are no shops nearby and be prepared for lots of taxis in and out of the city! There is a restaurant called Frikiss which is a short taxi ride away which is a good facility with good food. But otherwise there isn’t much nearby so just be sure to keep a budget purely for taxis!
Overall we loved our stay here and would recommend to anybody coming to Marrakesh!!
Thank you for everything Villa Dar Laila!Exceptional – Nadia from Ukraine – 22 April 2025 (10/10)
The villa is absolutely beautiful, with great attention to detail. Everything is thoughtfully designed for comfort, and each element is a pleasure to the eye. We had a stunning view of the olive grove and the Atlas Mountains — truly breathtaking.
The atmosphere is peaceful and quiet, which was a perfect contrast after the vibrant energy of Marrakech. It felt like total relaxation. The pool and sun loungers were perfect for unwinding, and we really appreciated the option to order dinner on-site — the food was delicious and had a homemade touch.
The staff were attentive and kind, and anything we needed was arranged immediately and with care. We truly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for beauty, calm, and comfort.A wee oasis in the chaos of Marrakesh – Rebecca from United Kingdom – 13 April 2025 (8/10)
Excellent stay, beautiful villa. Tasty breakfast and meals. Very clean. Welcoming staff.
Only downside is you are a 15/20 mins taxi ride into centre of Marrakesh which is expensive if you are doing it numerous times over stay. 150dmsSuperb – Catherine from United Kingdom – 13 April 2025 (9/10)
Our stay was fantastic. It was really nice to have the quiet and space away from the centre of Marrakesh so you can easily chill by the pool and play some tennis and some table tennis and then head into town at night. The taxi takes about 15 minutes into town And it is really easy to order through the In drive app which is similar to Uber. The breakfast every morning was different and fantastic which was all freshly prepared and very flexible with timings too. It was lovely to have breakfast by the pool every day and we really enjoyed our stay.

Great to stay after 2 days of staying by the medina and all the chaos. Great way to relax and unwind. Great facilities and host. Lovely breakfast and evening meal if you choose to eat there.

It's an Oasis set behind high walls in a couple of acres of beautiful gardens. The buildings are very elegant and very well finished and cared for.
Sitting by the pool is a very tranquil way to relax after a busy experience in the city.
There were about 16 other guests whilst we were there.
The staff are friendly and efficient. They are clearly very used to meeting client expectations. The quality of the breakfast, lunch and dinner food is very good. Nothing fancy, just good quality and well prepared.
High quality bedroom and bathroom fittings.
It's about a 15 minute taxi ride to the city and the airport. Marrakech has multiple taxi hailing options – take your pick and go with the flow is my best advice for taxi usage. Really nice hotel.

The villa is so clean with lots of space. The pool area is beautiful. The staff are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The breakfast is amazing. Everything is truly beautiful – I would highly recommend this villa. The location is also great – only 10 mins by taxi to the centre of Marrakech. Thank you to Yasin and the wonderful staff at Villa dar Laila!
What could be improved: There was nothing we didn’t like. We had a wonderful stay at the villa.
