Villa Kalthoum Overview
You know what caught me off guard about Villa Kalthoum? It’s tucked away in this residential area called Zohor 2 that honestly feels like you’ve stumbled into where actual Marrakchis live, not just another tourist bubble. I mean, when you first pull up to Residence Assalam, you’re thinking “wait, am I in the right place?” because it’s so refreshingly normal – kids playing football in the street, the guy selling oranges from his cart, that whole authentic neighborhood vibe you can’t fake.
The villa itself is this lovely four-star spot that gets an 8.6 rating, and honestly, I can see why. It’s got that perfect balance where you feel like you’re staying at someone’s stylish family home rather than a cookie-cutter hotel. The rooms have this warm, lived-in elegance – think traditional Moroccan touches without going overboard with the tourist-y stuff. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night (once the neighborhood settles down around 10 PM), and you can actually hear the call to prayer echoing across the rooftops in the morning, which sounds way more romantic than it probably reads. The staff genuinely seems to care about making your stay work – they helped me figure out the local bus routes to get into the medina, which honestly saved me a fortune on taxis.
Here’s the thing about the location though – you’re about a 15-minute taxi ride from Jemaa el-Fnaa and all the main tourist action, but that’s actually perfect. You get to experience real Marrakech life (there’s this amazing little café about two blocks away where I had the best msemen for breakfast), plus you can retreat to somewhere peaceful when the medina gets overwhelming. The neighborhood has everything you need – a small grocery store, a pharmacy, even a hammam if you want the local experience. I will say, if you’re the type who needs to be walking distance from everything touristy, this might not be your spot. But if you want to feel like you’re actually in Morocco, not just visiting a Moroccan-themed resort, Villa Kalthoum hits that sweet spot perfectly.

Reviews of Villa Kalthoum
Brilliant! – Danthuluri from United Kingdom – 25 March 2025 (10/10)
Whole property is extremely well maintained. I would recommend this for a group of 8 as it has got enough beds and rooms with proper hot water bathrooms. Pool is well cleaned and comfortable to play pool games.
Lots of fun!
What could be improved: Absolutely nothing. We stayed for two nights, happy with the Villa and host. – Nicola from United Kingdom – 15 March 2025 (9/10)

Exceptional – Sateender from Ireland – 13 March 2025 (10/10)
Very good.
The manager Mohammad (Mims) is very good, helpful and gave us all information .Beautiful Villa to spend a few days with your family and amazing staff – Sat from United Kingdom – 26 February 2025 (10/10)
Everything was perfect about this place, it was sad that we couldnt enjoy it more. The Villa is in a local residential complex and its safe and secure in a very quiet area. The pictures are accurate and I met the owner who was very kind and had a great vibe. The villa was clean when we arrived, it had all the amenities which we needed and we love dour stay there.
Mims was very helpful during our stay and gave us local tips and ensured that we had a nice time there.Very lovely Stay. Great communication with the host, yummy traditional breakfast everyday. – Lani from New Zealand – 12 June 2024 (10/10)
We enjoyed the pool, it was perfect for the hot weather. Our host was very accommodating and let us drop our bags off early so we didn't have to carry them around as we had an early arrival. The communication was very good if we ever needed anything. The property was a 25min walk from the medina and was good enough to be a place to retreat to away from the busy crowds. We enjoyed our stay here.
Exceptional – Hannot from United Kingdom – 1 June 2024 (10/10)
The staff looked after us was Mohammed, he was really kind and helpful. Due to the language barrier, certain things we decided not to do. He his efficient, and anytime we ring to find out things about the villa or area, he his always available and willing to help us. My family and I are really grateful for his care and support during our stay. Thank you, Mohammed.
What could be improved: The master bedroom bathroom has no shower curtains. We had to do a lot of cleaning after shower. I feel it will be better if bathroom is converted to a standing shower with cubicle to prevent splash.Great apartment. An oasis to relax after being in the Medina. – Aitor from Spain – 16 May 2024 (9/10)
What could be improved: The swimming pool had problems with the pump and the garden was flooded twice during our stay.
Great combination of traditional and modern – Dara from India – 31 December 2023 (10/10)
The villa is stunning, makes you feel like you’re in a palace from the moment you walk in! It has a great combination of traditional decor with all modern comodities you need, the beds were super comfortable too! The location is ideal as you are a 20 minute walk from the Medina and 15 minute drive from the airport. The area was very peaceful and had some local cafes and shops where you can get your basics. Our host Mr Mims was very helpful even though we arrived late on our first night and had to leave early on the last day.
Exceptional – Eralda from Greece – 14 November 2023 (10/10)
A lovely Villa with all the necessities. We were a team of 5 but there was more than enough place for everyone to have privacy. The Villa was located in a very good and safe location and close to Medina. Mims was a great host. He was available all the time for us and helped us with any issues we had. We had also fresh oranges from the tree ( yummy ♥️).
On behalf of all the team,
Thank you Mims again for your amazing hospitality.
We hope to see you soon !
