You know what? Villa Kela Serene is one of those places that actually lives up to its name – and honestly, that’s pretty rare in Marrakech these days. I stumbled across this gem in Douar Ouled Messaoud, which is about a 20-minute drive from the madness of Jemaa el-Fnaa, and I’m kind of glad it’s not right in the thick of things. The commune of Ouahat Sidi Brahim has this lovely, authentic feel that you don’t get in the tourist zones – you’ll see actual Moroccan families going about their daily lives, kids playing football in dusty courtyards, and the call to prayer echoing beautifully across the palm groves without competing with tour group chatter.

The villa itself sits behind these gorgeous traditional walls (you know, the kind that look like they’ve been there forever but are actually maintained really well), and walking through the entrance feels like stepping into someone’s elegant family home rather than a hotel. The courtyard has this incredible fountain that’s not just for show – the sound of the water actually drowns out any street noise, which was a pleasant surprise. I mean, the rooms are spacious and thoughtfully decorated with local textiles and handcrafted furniture, but what really got me was the attention to details that matter when you’re actually living somewhere for a few days. The bathroom has proper water pressure (miracle in Morocco sometimes), there’s actually enough outlets for your devices, and – this might sound silly – but the bed is positioned so you’re not staring directly at the bathroom door when you’re lying down.

What I loved most was how the staff treats you like a guest in their home rather than a transaction. The manager, Hassan, gave me the best directions to the Majorelle Gardens I’ve ever received – turns out there’s this back route that skips most of the traffic, and you pass through this neighborhood with the most amazing bread bakery where locals actually shop. The breakfast situation is solid too, served in this beautiful salon that opens onto the garden, and they’ll adjust the timing if you’re planning an early Atlas Mountains day trip. I stayed during late spring when the bougainvillea was absolutely exploding with color, and honestly, just sitting there with mint tea in the late afternoon became my favorite part of each day. The pool area is intimate rather than sprawling – perfect for a couple of quiet laps or just floating while you figure out whether you want to venture back into the city or stay put for another tagine dinner. It’s that kind of place where a 9.3 rating makes complete sense once you’re there.

  Superbe cadre pour se dépayser quelques jours, mention spécial à Aziza qui travaille sur place qui nous a conseillé sur les visites à faire Marrakech et alentours, très sympathique et nous a concocté des repas sur mesure à notre demande (tout fait maison)
  Elle nous a également préparer les petits déjeuners à l'heure souhaitée au petit déjeuner
  Je vous recommande d'aller la voir si vous avez besoin d'informations ou quoi que ce soit elle saura vous aiguiller
  
  Propriétaire réactif sur WA en cas de besoin cependant faites attention l'adresse sur booking est mauvaise et nous a fait arrivé à 13km du complexe perdu au milieu d'un chantier

  The location of the property is very remote and we did have trouble with taxis finding us, however once at the Villa we were given the contact details of a preferred local taxi driver who was exceptional.
  We arrived very late due to a delayed flight and again a taxi driver that couldn’t find the villa and were disappointed that we had no options to eat. With two small children food after a long day of travelling is everything but Chris saved the day by arranging his driver to collect and take us to a restaurant.
  The Villa is beautiful and once you relax into your holiday and understand how the villa is different to a hotel it becomes like a second home. The hosts Luca and Chris are so accommodating and lovely, their influence on the property can be seen with attention to detail and an eagerness to please. We were told on numerous occasions that the villa was our home during our stay. We actually felt like we had the whole house to ourselves with a private chef and staff for the first couple of days… just wonderful!
  My children fell in love with the house dog and we fell in love with Marianne the most amazing cook who spends her days hand preparing and making everything from scratch- delicious!
  This type of accommodation was very different for us and one we will never forget. Thank you
  To everyone on site for such a memorable relaxing stay and a special thank you to Halid for going out on his motorbike to find our lost taxi driver! We are already looking forward to coming back next year.

  Le cadre est magnifique, les couchers et levers de soleil sont somptueux, le personnel est adorable, la villa décorées avec beaucoup de gout, la literie confortable et les petits déjeuners délicieux.
  Mention speciale pour les animaux que nous avons adoré !
  Par contre je recommande de venir avec une voiture de location. La villa est au milieu d’une piste c’est ce qui fait sont charme, mais à mon avis pas trop pratique en taxi. (Perso nous avons adoré)
  
  What could be improved: Nous avons pris un repas un soir à la maison qui etait tres bon mais nous avons ete suprise du prix qui nous a ete annoncé apres..
  Mais hors mi ce petit point, je recommande vivement !!

  Really beautiful villa, warm and friendly staff, delicious meals (but we found them a bit expensive). Peaceful and quiet! There's a nice friendly dog that lives there, keep this in mind if you have a strong allergy.
  
  What could be improved: The pool is NOT actually heated. We still enjoyed it but we chose the Villa because it said "heated pool" in the description but it was not.
  
  The location is probably nice when you're on the car. We used taxi and it was difficult and expensive. It's nearly impossible to explain a taxi driver in Marrakesh how to find the villa.
