Villa Leya – Piscine chauffée Overview

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Villa Leya on Route de Fès, I wasn’t expecting much. The street’s a bit busy with local traffic heading toward the old medina, and from the outside it looks like just another riad-style place. But man, was I wrong. The moment you step through that heavy wooden door, it’s like someone hit the mute button on Marrakech – and trust me, that’s saying something in a city where the call to prayer mixes with scooter horns at 5 AM.

The heated pool is honestly what sold me on this place, especially if you’re visiting during those cooler months when everyone thinks Morocco’s always blazing hot (spoiler: it’s not). I mean, you can actually swim laps here without your teeth chattering, which is more than I can say for most places I’ve stayed in North Africa. The staff – and I’m talking about the guy who brings you mint tea without you even asking – they actually remember your name after day one. It’s that kind of attention that makes you feel less like tourist number 47 and more like… well, like someone who belongs there. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star – clean, comfortable beds that don’t creak when you turn over, and thank God the AC works properly because even in winter, midday sun through those traditional windows can get intense. You know what really impressed me though? The breakfast spread. None of that stale croissant nonsense you get at chain hotels. We’re talking fresh-squeezed orange juice, local honey that’s probably from someone’s cousin’s farm, and bread that’s still warm from wherever they bake it.

Here’s the thing about the location – you’re close enough to walk to Jemaa el-Fnaa (maybe 15 minutes if you don’t get distracted by the leather shops), but far enough away that you won’t hear the drummers until 2 AM. And parking? Yeah, they’ve got a small lot, which honestly is worth its weight in gold if you’re brave enough to drive in Marrakech. The Route de Fès can get a bit hectic during rush hour, but it’s nothing compared to trying to navigate those narrow medina streets with a rental car. One small thing – the WiFi gets a bit spotty in the evenings when everyone’s streaming Netflix, but honestly, you didn’t come to Morocco to binge-watch shows, right? With an 8.8 rating, Villa Leya isn’t trying to be the fanciest place in town, and that’s exactly why it works. It’s got that sweet spot of comfort and authenticity that makes you want to extend your stay by a few days – which I actually did, much to my wallet’s dismay.

Reviews of Villa Leya – Piscine chauffée

  • Pleasant – Abdennasser from Italy – 19 May 2025 (6/10)

La piscine, la propreté, le calme

What could be improved: Des choses basiques ne sont pas fournies : papiers toilettes, savon, mouchoirs …

  • Lovely family villa stay with private heated pool and table tennis – Sharmeen from United Kingdom – 29 April 2025 (10/10)

Gorgeous private pool, clean spacious villa set in a well kept complex, the basement gym and table tennis was a hit, smart TV for movie nights, everything you need for a chilling family holiday, easy to get a taxi into town through security at complex entrance, small shops within walking distnance where you can pick up essentials, and having Khadijah helping with cleaning and laundry was definitely the icing on top !
Looking forward to staying at the villa again in the future.

What could be improved: Some possible improvements. Whilst the pool was heated to a swimmable temperature, it's turned off at certain times. It might be helpful to adjust those times to suit people who are staying if possible.
The layout of the sofas in the lounge in the photos almost put us off staying but Antony was very helpful. We were able to shift things around so we could enjoy our movie nights.
Just my preference but a couple of extra pans and lids would helpful. And because we're British, we like our tea in a mug instead of a cup. So a mug or two would be helpful 🙂

  • Une séjour inoubliable, nous reviendrons sans aucun doute . – Habaib from France – 29 April 2025 (10/10)

La propreté, la bonne literie, la piscine

  • Bon séjour dans l’ensemble – Fouad from France – 24 February 2025 (8/10)

Nous avons apprécié la propreté de la maison et son accès

What could be improved: Ustensiles de cuisine un peu rudimentaire et femme de ménage pas très avenante

  • Exceptional – Sinovassin-naïk from France – 18 November 2024 (10/10)
