Villa Mezouza Overview

You know what struck me first about Villa Mezouza? The silence. I mean, you’re technically still in Marrakech, but once you hit the Palmeraie area – that’s the palm grove district about 15 minutes north of the medina’s chaos – it’s like someone turned down the volume on the entire city. The villa sits tucked among actual date palms (not the decorative kind you see at resort chains), and honestly, driving up that dusty road, I wasn’t sure my GPS was right. But then you see these gorgeous riad-style buildings peek through the greenery, and it all clicks.

The place has this authentic feel that’s hard to fake – thick tadelakt walls that stay cool even when it’s blazing outside, hand-carved cedar details that smell faintly of wood polish and something floral I couldn’t quite place. Maybe jasmine? The rooms are spacious in that old-world way, with high ceilings and windows that actually open (revolutionary concept, I know). What I loved was how they’ve kept the traditional Moroccan architecture but added modern touches where they matter – the shower pressure is fantastic, the AC works without sounding like a jet engine, and there’s actual WiFi that doesn’t cut out every five minutes. The pool area is where you’ll probably spend most of your time anyway. It’s surrounded by olive trees and has these low-slung loungers that are perfect for afternoon naps. Fair warning though – if you’re here during Ramadan, the evenings get pretty quiet since most staff are observing, but that just adds to the peaceful vibe.

Getting into the medina is easy enough – they’ll arrange a driver for about 100 dirhams, or you can take a petit taxi from the main road, though good luck explaining where you’re staying in Arabic. The hotel staff speaks decent English and French, and they’re genuinely helpful with restaurant recommendations (skip the touristy places in Jemaa el-Fnaa and ask them about the neighborhood spots). Breakfast is served on the terrace overlooking the palms, and while it’s not fancy, the bread is fresh and the orange juice is actually squeezed from local oranges. One small thing – rooms facing the pool can get a bit noisy if there’s a group staying, but honestly, most guests here seem to be couples or small families looking for the same quiet escape you are. The 9.2 rating makes sense when you consider you’re getting an authentic Moroccan experience without the markup of those big luxury resorts closer to town. It’s the kind of place where you actually unwind instead of just posting about unwinding.

amazing – even better than the photos!
The pictures on Booking.com don’t do it justice it’s way nicer in person. Everything was perfect: from the beautiful interior and the clean, private pool, comfortable spaces to the delicious breakfast prepared for us right in the villa.

we always felt safe and well cared for thanks to the friendly security Jamal outside, who was always happy to help. The owners were also incredibly kind and responsive, always ready to assist with any questions we had.

This place exceeded all expectations I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful, luxurious stay.

  • Amazing! – Christine from Netherlands – 10 May 2024 (10/10)

Beautiful house, the photos don’t do it justice! Perfect for a family getaway, plenty of space, nice garden with pool and Fatima, the housekeeper, is so sweet. We really enjoyed our stay as a family of five with three young children.

What could be improved: Nothing about the property but you need a car or are dependent on taxis to go anywhere, even supermarket.
