It’s not actually in the medina chaos like most people expect from Marrakech hotels – it’s out on the Route de Ouarzazate, which honestly took me by surprise in the best way. I mean, you’re still close enough to hear the call to prayer echoing across the city, but far enough out that you can actually sleep at night without scooters honking outside your window. The villa itself feels like someone’s wealthy Moroccan uncle decided to turn his family compound into a guesthouse – there’s this genuine lived-in luxury that’s hard to fake. The heated pool (and trust me, even in Morocco you want that heated pool during winter evenings) sits in this gorgeous courtyard surrounded by traditional tilework that’s clearly been maintained by people who actually care about the craftsmanship.

The billiard room is where I ended up spending way too many evenings, honestly. It’s got this old-school gentleman’s club vibe but with Moroccan touches – leather chairs that have the perfect amount of wear, and windows that look out onto the Atlas Mountains when the light hits just right. The kitchen setup is actually functional too, which sounds boring but matters when you want to grab fresh oranges from the souk and make juice without hunting down staff at 7 AM. I watched the cook prepare tagines in there one morning and picked up more technique in twenty minutes than from any cookbook. The games area flows naturally from the billiard room – it’s clearly designed by someone who understands that after a long day exploring the souks or day-tripping to the Atlas, you want options that don’t involve getting dressed up and heading back into the city.

What really sells this place for me is the location’s sweet spot on that Ouarzazate road. You’re positioned perfectly for day trips – I mean, you can hit Essaouira, the Atlas villages, even push toward the desert if you’re ambitious – but you’re not stuck in tourist-trap territory. The taxi drivers know exactly where Villa Mima is, which sounds small but saves you those awkward phone conversations trying to explain where you’re staying. The staff runs things with this relaxed professionalism that feels authentically Moroccan rather than international hotel chain polished. Check-in was smooth, they genuinely seemed to care about whether I found good hiking spots, and the 8.7 rating makes complete sense once you settle in. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Marrakech, but it nails that balance of comfort and character that makes you want to extend your stay an extra few days.
