The property sits in this pocket of calm where the biggest decision you’ll face is whether to float in the private pool or grab a mint tea on the terrace.

The villa itself is honestly what you’d hope for when you picture a Moroccan family getaway – it’s got that authentic feel without making you rough it. The rooms are spacious enough that the kids aren’t constantly underfoot, and there’s actually decent Wi-Fi throughout (learned that lesson the hard way on previous trips). What I really appreciated was the kitchen setup – it’s properly equipped, not just decorative, which matters when you’ve got a family to feed and don’t want to eat out every single meal. The pool area is the real winner though. It’s private, well-maintained, and gets sun most of the day. Plus, the kids can splash around without disturbing other guests because, well, there aren’t any other guests to disturb.

Location-wise, Lalla Takerkousst is sort of the sweet spot between accessibility and escape. You’re close enough to zip into Marrakech for the souks and all that tourist stuff, but far enough out that you can actually hear yourself think. The drive back from the city at sunset is pretty spectacular – you get those Atlas Mountain views that make you understand why people fall in love with this part of Morocco. Fair warning though, if you’re planning to head into town regularly, you’ll want to sort out transportation beforehand. There are local drivers who know the route well, and honestly, that’s your best bet unless you’re comfortable navigating the roads yourself. The villa’s 4-star rating feels about right – it’s comfortable and well-run without being fancy to the point of stuffiness. My only real gripe was that the hot water took a minute to get going in the mornings, but that’s pretty standard for this area and hardly a deal-breaker. The 8 out of 10 rating makes sense too – it delivers on what it promises without any major surprises, good or bad.
