The moment you walk through those traditional wooden doors, you’re hit with this incredible sense of calm that just… well, it completely erases the chaos of Marrakech outside. I mean, don’t get me wrong – I love the energy of the medina, but sometimes you need that private sanctuary, and this place absolutely delivers. The riad sits in this quieter residential area that’s honestly perfect – you’re close enough to Gueliz (literally 10 minutes by petit taxi) to hit up all the modern restaurants and cafes, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the constant honking and hustle that can wear you down after a few days.

The private pool is what really makes this place special, though. Most riads have these tiny plunge pools that look better in photos than they actually are for swimming, but this one’s actually big enough to do proper laps if you’re into that sort of thing. I spent most mornings out there with my coffee – the staff brings it right to the poolside if you ask – just watching the light change on the traditional tiles and listening to the call to prayer echo across the neighborhood. The water stays surprisingly warm even in the cooler months, which was a pleasant surprise. The whole courtyard area has this gorgeous mix of traditional Moroccan architecture with just enough modern touches that you don’t feel like you’re roughing it – proper lighting, comfortable seating, and thank god, reliable wifi that actually reaches the pool area.

What I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to get that balance between being helpful and giving you space. They’re not constantly hovering, but when you need something – directions to that little pottery cooperative near Bab Doukkala, or help arranging a driver to the Atlas Mountains – they actually know what they’re talking about instead of just nodding and making something up. The rooms themselves are spacious with those high ceilings that keep everything cool, and honestly, the air conditioning works better than half the places I’ve stayed in Morocco. The only minor thing is that the neighborhood can be a bit tricky for drivers to find the first time (GPS gets confused with these narrow streets), but once your taxi driver figures it out, it’s smooth sailing. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if you’re planning to spend time in both the traditional medina and the newer Gueliz district – it’s like having the best of both worlds without the compromises.
