Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw Villa S on the map, I thought we were heading into the middle of nowhere. It’s about 20 kilometers out on the Amezmiz road, and you know what? That’s exactly what makes it special. The drive takes you through proper Moroccan countryside, past olive groves and little Berber villages that most tourists never see. Once you’re there though, you realize this location is actually genius – close enough to hit Marrakech’s medina when you want that chaos, but far enough out that you can actually hear yourself think.

The property itself surprised me. It’s got this understated elegance that feels more like staying at a sophisticated friend’s place than a hotel. The suites – and they really are suites, not just rooms with a sitting area – have this gorgeous traditional Moroccan architecture but with modern touches that actually work. I mean, the bathroom alone was bigger than some hotel rooms I’ve stayed in. What really got me was the attention to detail… the way they’ve used local materials, the handcrafted tiles, even the way the light falls through the windows in the afternoon. You can tell someone who actually cares about design put thought into every corner.

The staff here gets it – they’re not hovering, but they seem to anticipate what you need before you ask. Check-in was smooth (they had fresh mint tea waiting, which honestly never gets old in Morocco), and they gave us solid recommendations for both touristy stuff and local spots. The pool area is where I spent most mornings – it’s got these amazing views of the Atlas Mountains that photographs just don’t capture properly. Breakfast was served outside when weather permitted, and let me tell you, starting your day with fresh msemen and that mountain backdrop is pretty hard to beat. The only minor thing – and I’m being picky here – is that you’ll definitely want a car or be comfortable with taxis since you’re not walking anywhere from here. But honestly, that isolation is part of the charm. It’s the kind of place where you can decompress from Marrakech’s sensory overload while still being close enough to dive back in when you’re ready.
