The thing about this place is that it actually feels like staying at someone’s really well-appointed home rather than a typical hotel. The private pool – and I’m talking properly private, not some shared courtyard situation – sits right on this gorgeous terrace where you can float around without worrying about other guests wandering by with their phones out. You know what really got me? The morning light hits the water just right around 9 AM, and you can hear the call to prayer drifting over from the medina in the distance. It’s one of those moments that reminds you why you traveled all this way. The staff here actually knows your name by day two (there aren’t dozens of rooms, which helps), and they’re the kind of people who remember you don’t take sugar in your mint tea without you having to ask twice.

What I didn’t expect was how quiet it gets at night – honestly, you’re far enough from the main tourist chaos that you can actually sleep with the windows open. The location works in your favor too, because while you’re not walking distance from Jemaa el-Fnaa (you’ll want to grab a petit taxi for about 20 dirhams), you’re also not dealing with the constant buzz of scooters and tour groups that can make the central medina feel overwhelming. There’s this little local café about a five-minute walk away where the owner makes incredible pastries – I mean, I’m talking about the kind of place where locals actually go, not somewhere that’s been discovered by every travel blogger yet. The villa itself has this relaxed elegance that feels authentic rather than trying too hard, if that makes sense. Sure, it’s not the fanciest place you’ll ever stay, and the WiFi can be a bit spotty when it rains, but there’s something about sipping your morning coffee on that terrace, watching the Atlas Mountains emerge from the early morning haze, that makes you forget about checking your email anyway.
