Villa Zahra Palmeraie Overview

You know what struck me first about Villa Zahra Palmeraie? It’s honestly one of those places that feels like a secret even though it’s sitting right there on rue Gharnata. I mean, you’re technically in the Palmeraie area – that’s the palm grove district about 15 minutes from the main medina chaos – but the moment you step through those heavy wooden doors, it’s like someone hit the volume button on Marrakech and turned everything way down. The whole property has this authentic riad feel without being stuffy about it. The courtyard’s got these gorgeous zellige tiles that catch the light just right in the late afternoon, and there’s always the sound of water trickling from the fountain. Actually, that fountain becomes your best friend during those scorching July days when even the locals are complaining about the heat.

What really gets me about this place is how they’ve nailed that balance between traditional Moroccan style and actually functioning as a modern hotel. The rooms – well, they’re not huge by Western standards, but they’re thoughtfully designed with those thick walls that keep things surprisingly cool. The beds are proper comfortable (I’m picky about this stuff), and honestly, the bathrooms are better than half the five-star places I’ve stayed at in the city. The staff here actually remembers your name, which sounds small but makes a huge difference when you’re dealing with jet lag and trying to figure out taxi prices. Speaking of getting around, you’ll want to arrange transport through them for your first few trips into the medina – the drivers they work with won’t try to “detour” you through their cousin’s carpet shop, if you know what I mean.

Here’s the thing though – and I wish someone had told me this before my first visit – the location is both the best and most challenging part of staying here. You’re surrounded by actual palm groves and some stunning villas, so morning walks are pretty incredible, but you’re not stumbling distance from Jemaa el-Fnaa if that’s your scene. The upside? You’ll sleep like a baby because there’s no scooter traffic or late-night drumming from the square. The hotel can arrange a shuttle to the medina, or honestly, taxis are easy enough to flag down on the main road. I actually grew to love this setup because you get to experience both sides of Marrakech – the frenetic energy of the old city during the day, then retreat to this peaceful oasis at night. The 8.9 rating makes total sense when you factor in the genuine hospitality and how well-maintained everything is. It’s not trying to be the flashiest place in town, but it absolutely delivers on creating that authentic Moroccan experience without the tourist traps.

Reviews of Villa Zahra Palmeraie

  • Great value for money. Beautiful villa. – Hayley from United Kingdom – 29 June 2025 (9/10)

The pictures don’t do the villa justice it’s absolutely stunning. So much space to relax in. The staff work really hard. Breakfast was delicious. The pool is huge. I definitely would return. The location was perfect far away and close enough to the craziness of the center of Marrakesh.

What could be improved: The mattresses were a little hard. We had a problem with cockroaches in the bedrooms which I understand is due to the heat so can’t complain. I actually loved hearing them but the frogs were really noisy at night but a few of my friends said they struggled to sleep with the noise.

  • Beautiful villa, superb staff, highly recommended – Karen from United Kingdom – 16 April 2025 (10/10)

It’s amazing the photos don’t do it justice, it’s spacious, it’s clean and the staff are amazing

What could be improved: Absolutely nothing

  • Just Amazing! – Mateusz from Poland – 25 February 2025 (10/10)

Beautiful place and great people from service! Everyday we get fresh breakfast and perfect cleaning, Villa was very safe and we get security 24h. Fresh citrons straight from tree blow our minds! We back to that great place for sure!

  • this villa make you feel like a millionaire, fantastic. – John from United Kingdom – 15 November 2024 (10/10)

this villa is amazing and unbelievable value and comfort. it was even better than expected and the breakfast was great and Rose the cook/helper/host could not have been more helpful.

    What could be improved: nothing

  • Relaxing and clean Villa for friends and/or family ! – Etienne from France – 13 May 2024 (8/10)

Our host was not present, but the staff was friendly, welcoming, helpful and very effective. Around 2 people stayed at the villa during our stay and took attention to cleanliness. Thank you very much, it helped us to be more relaxed ! The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful. There is a guardian at the door. Also good to know : your host and his staff were able to prepare local meals at the Villa – delicious !

What could be improved: Mattresses are very hard. It seems to be general in Marocco – but be advised if you have back aches ! For large groups, the (only) us-fridge might not be enough.

  • This is an amazing traditional villa, great location and friendly & caring staff. – Aaditya from United Kingdom – 25 April 2024 (8/10)

The Villa was located in an ideal location just outside the main part of Marrakech but close enough that all major points of interest were about a 15-20 minute drive depending on traffic. The hosts Rosa and Khadija were brilliant, friendly and attentive to all our needs. We did not get to meet Adil face to face but we stayed connected via whatsapp and he was also excellent in responding to questions, helping facilitate a late check out for us and giving us as much information about the villa and surrounding areas as possible.

Breakfast was provided to us on time everyday and our rooms and bathrooms were cleaned to hotel quality levels daily, we really appreciated this! Rosa was also really flexible in giving us breakfast a little later if we requested this on the same day so cannot fault the service at all! We did not get the friendly Security Guards name but he was always available and on standby if we needed to be let in and our of the compound irrespective of time so really appreciated that and the guard dog Hofis was lovely!

The Villa itself was lovely, spacious, big rooms (all ensuite), great dining areas, pool facilities, the small annex areas, and grounds. All really well kept and provided that authentic Moroccon riyad feeling.

What could be improved: On the whole we were very happy with the property but some small things which we felt could have been a little better.

    – The wifi range wasn't great throughout the entire Villa especially in the outhouses,
    – The breakfast would have been enhanced if we had some fruit alongside the eggs and bread selections,
    – The AC units through each room could use an upgrade and one of ours did leak on the first night. However when we reported this to Adil and Rosa they got an engineer to come and fix it right away which was really appreciated.
    – The shower water pressure was a little mixed, to get maximum pressure you needed to have the temperature all the way up (which was far to hot). Having the right temperature meant the pressure was a little slow albeit was usable)

The only real negative piece of feedback we had was the absence of an additional bed which we had requested a couple of times but nothing was done about it. In the end we managed with the sleeping space we had but would have appreciated an answer either e.g. the team could have provided an additional bed or not.

However, on the whole a really pleasant and enjoyable stay. I would recommend Villa Zahra Palmeraie to anyone visiting Marrakech you will not be disappointed!

  • Nice villa, great hosts – Jamal from United Kingdom – 20 February 2024 (9/10)

The hosts were very nice and super helpful, made the stay much easier for us. Breakfast was fresh and served daily. Room cleaning was also daily. Plenty of things to do around the villa, large swimming pool, goals for football, tennis, table tennis, single basketball net for 3 on 3, barbecue, outdoor speaker (aux). Plenty of areas around the villa to sit. Friendly guard dog on standby.

What could be improved: Could do with a few upgrades. The water temperature on the showers are a little tricky to get a hang of, does the job though.

  • Stunning property with great hosts – Asim from United Kingdom – 16 September 2023 (10/10)

Absolutely stunning Villa, you literally walk in and you are like ‘Wow’ I thought i was on MTV Cribs.
It is pretty traditional, which we all really liked and the fact that it was well kept and tidy. The location is also great in a safe area not far from centre of Marrakesh.
The maids we had there for cleaning and breakfast were also very friendly and helpful,
Lastly a massive thank you to the host who was very accommodating with check in and check out times due to flight timings and delays.
All 10 of us had a great stay and have no hesitation on recommending this property, we will be back soon In Sha Allah.
    Thanks

What could be improved: There was nothing not to like.
