You know what caught me off guard about Villa Zeitoune? The location actually works in your favor, even though it’s not right in the medina chaos. It’s tucked away in this quiet residential area called Jnan Zeitoune – honestly, I’d never heard of it before booking, but it’s maybe 15 minutes from the main square without all the tourist madness right outside your door. The Route de Ouarzazate sounds intimidating, but it’s really just the main road that eventually leads toward the Atlas Mountains, and Villa 9 sits back from the street enough that you don’t get the constant scooter symphony that drives you crazy in other parts of Marrakech.

The villa itself is… well, it’s one of those places where the photos don’t lie, which is rare. Eight people sounds cramped, but they’ve actually thought this through – there’s real space to spread out, and that pool isn’t just a tiny splash zone. I mean, you can actually swim laps if you want, though let’s be honest, you’ll probably just float around with a mint tea. The whole setup feels more like staying at a friend’s place than a hotel, which some people love and others find a bit too low-key. Check-in was pretty smooth, though you might want to coordinate arrival times since it’s not like there’s a 24-hour front desk situation. The neighbors are mostly locals, so evenings are genuinely peaceful – no drunk backpackers stumbling around at 2 AM.

What really sells me on this place is how it sits between two worlds. You get that authentic residential Morocco experience (the call to prayer echoes beautifully across the neighborhood at sunset), but you’re not stuck taking expensive taxis every time you want decent food or shopping. There’s a little grocery store maybe a 10-minute walk away, and the taxi drivers actually know where Jnan Zeitoune is, which trust me, isn’t always the case with vacation rentals in Marrakech. The 9.3 rating makes sense – it’s not trying to be the Royal Mansour, but it delivers exactly what it promises. The pool area gets gorgeous afternoon light, the WiFi actually works for video calls, and there’s enough hot water for eight people to shower without the last person freezing. Sometimes the simple stuff matters more than fancy amenities you’ll never use.

  Great staff and communication with the owner. Took very good care of us, amazing breakfasts and good location, not far from the city.
