Wazo Hotel Overview

So I’ve stayed at the Wazo Hotel a few times now, and honestly, it’s one of those places that grows on you. When you first pull up on Avenue Abdelkrim Khattabi – which locals just call the Casablanca route – you might think it looks a bit understated from the outside. But that’s actually part of its charm, I think.

The location is pretty clever when you break it down. You’re technically in the newer part of Marrakech, which means you avoid some of the tourist chaos around Jemaa el-Fnaa, but you’re still close enough to get there in about 15 minutes by taxi (maybe 20 dirham, depending on your haggling skills). What I really appreciate is that you can actually walk to some decent local spots for dinner – there’s this little place about three blocks down that does incredible tagines, and the hotel staff will point you toward it if you ask. The neighborhood has that authentic Marrakech feel without being overwhelming, you know?

The rooms are solid for a 4-star place, though I’ll be honest – the Wi-Fi can be spotty on the upper floors, and the air conditioning takes a while to kick in during those brutal summer afternoons. But the beds are comfortable, and they’ve got this nice courtyard area where you can actually have breakfast without feeling like you’re in a hotel chain. The staff remembers you after a day or two, which is something you don’t always get at the bigger resorts. I mean, Mohammed at the front desk knew my coffee order by day three, and that kind of personal touch makes a difference when you’re dealing with the usual travel stress.

Here’s what really sets it apart though – the pool area is genuinely relaxing. It’s not huge, but it’s never crowded (maybe because it’s not right in the tourist center), and you can actually read a book without constant noise from the street. The surrounding area gets pretty quiet after 9 PM, which is perfect if you’ve been dealing with the sensory overload of the medina all day. Parking is straightforward too – they’ve got a small lot, and if that’s full, there’s usually street parking nearby that feels safe.

Look, it’s not going to win any luxury awards, and the breakfast buffet is pretty standard Moroccan hotel fare. But sometimes you want a place that feels more like a neighborhood hotel where actual people stay, rather than a tourist factory. The 7.2 rating seems about right – it’s good, reliable, and the price point makes sense for what you get. If you’re the type who wants to experience Marrakech without staying in either a hostel or a palace, this hits that sweet spot nicely.

  Nice hotel with smiling staff. Room is nice and hotel was quiet and I got my share of rest despite the fact that it was full.
  
  What could be improved: The buffet breakfast does not reflect the hotel standard, it is simply bad, of poor choice AND poor quality, except the Nescafé machine that delivered surprisingly OK-"espresso".

  The location was a good one especially for someone use a car … the property was cleaned smiling faces and Adil in the reception was a very good guy …..

  What could be improved: First of all: when we’re going to do the check out,i had money left at the reception the amount is 43DH left from the last night, because the girl i paid to her told me she don’t have change right now , I left it to the next day.
  In the next day i asked the reception to give me the 43DH back, the answer is…. The girl she took the money from you she didn’t left any money in the reception.
  I asked what to do right now, she said i don’t know and she was very Rude and thinkingless, and if you want to wait from now until the night that’s your problem because the girl is not here

  After finding out the property we had booked was so awful. My grandson and I found Wazo on Booking.com which saved our trip from disaster.

  Really enjoyed the stay overall. The hotel is lovely, with a nice garden area and orange trees! The sun loungers were nice. The room was nicely cleaned everyday. There is a supermarket called Marjane which is a 20 min walk from the hotel, it is a great supermarket and huge!
  
  What could be improved: The pool was freezing so we couldn't use this. The weather was around 23/24 so I'm unsure why the pool was so cold. It would be great if they could have a heated pool. There were a lack of amenities including an iron. We asked for an iron over the phone 3 times, before my partner needed to go to the reception to find out why they were not giving us an iron, as it was listed on our booking details. They finally gave the iron once we left which was pointless, I used the iron once and then the cleaners took the iron which was very frustrating. I gave up trying to ask for it again. We had the breakfast once, this was not nice. I wouldn't recommend having breakfast from here.
