Winarouze house Overview

First Impressions

Walking through the narrow streets of the Kasbah to reach Winarouze house feels like stepping back in time — and honestly, that’s exactly what you want when you’re in Marrakech‘s historic heart. The riad sits tucked away on Rue Bab Ksiba, which means you get that authentic medina experience without the chaos of the main tourist drags. I mean, you’re still close enough to everything that matters, but there’s something special about having your own quiet corner in one of Morocco’s most storied neighborhoods.

Location & Neighborhood

The Kasbah district is where Marrakech shows off its royal heritage, and staying here puts you right in the thick of it. You’re literally a few minutes’ walk from the Saadian Tombs and El Badi Palace — I actually stumbled upon both during my morning coffee runs. What couples seem to love most (and the 8.7 location rating from pairs backs this up) is how romantic these winding alleys feel, especially in the early evening when the light hits those ancient walls just right. The souks are close enough for serious shopping expeditions, but you can escape back to this quieter pocket when the sensory overload kicks in.

The Authentic Experience

This isn’t your typical hotel setup — Winarouze house has that traditional riad feel where you’re staying in someone’s beautifully restored home rather than a corporate property. The architecture alone tells stories, with those classic Moroccan details that you can’t fake or replicate anywhere else. What struck me most was how the place manages to feel both historic and livable — you know what I mean? It’s not like staying in a museum where you’re afraid to touch anything.

Breakfast & Daily Rhythms

The vegetarian breakfast here actually makes perfect sense when you consider how fresh and vibrant Moroccan produce can be. There’s something about starting your day with local breads, fresh fruits, and traditional mint tea that sets the right tone for exploring the medina. I found myself lingering over breakfast longer than usual, partly because the morning light in the courtyard was incredible, but also because there’s no rush when you’re already in the heart of where you want to be.

Why Guests Love It

The real magic happens when you realize you’re staying somewhere that feels genuinely Moroccan without sacrificing comfort. Couples particularly seem drawn to the intimate scale and authentic atmosphere — it’s romantic in that effortless way that only happens in places with real history. The location score speaks for itself, but what numbers can’t capture is that feeling of discovery you get wandering back through those Kasbah streets each evening. You’re not just visiting Marrakech from here; you’re actually living in it, even if it’s just for a few days.

Best hotels in Marrakech blend carved cedar lounges, lantern-lit hammams, and rooftop plunge pools.

Reviews of Winarouze house

  • Good value – Nikhil from United Kingdom – 8 July 2025 (9/10)

Great value for the price I paid – decent breakfast, food WiFi, clean room, nice roof terrace, friendly staff

What could be improved: No outside window in the room but at least it means it's quiet

Right on the edge of the Medina by the walls so some noise from busy road on the roof but also means it's easy to get a taxi to drop you nearby

  • Superb – Paul from United Kingdom – 24 June 2025 (9/10)

Chilled and relaxed environment friendly and helpful staff great terrace for sunbathing, location is great for local Soukes restaurants and shops.

AC works a treat and very morrocan mint tea

What could be improved: Nothing I thought it was very good for money

  • Good people, good location, good accommodations – Cecil from United States – 22 February 2025 (9/10)

    Breakfast was very good.
Abdul and the staff extremely helpful.

  • Superb – Tereza from Czech Republic – 8 February 2025 (9/10)

I liked pretty much the bathroom, though for someone it might be the opposite – the door to the bathroom were like the “Wild West saloon” ones. So not a real full door. We found it nice. And the terrace – it offers a view over the Medina wall towards the park and streets of Marakesh, a bit noisy, but different and in a way refreshing view different than we had from other rooftops in Medina.

  • Cozy & affordable place – Sebastiaan from Netherlands – 11 January 2025 (9/10)

Cozy and affordable place. Great support from the staff. When looking for a parking place, please consult them. They prepared prepack breakfast for our early check out

What could be improved: Location itself is fine, but a bit off from the city centre. Guess that is what makes it affordable:)

  • Superb – Jawad from Israel – 6 October 2024 (9/10)

Great place with the best roof top ! And great breakfast

What could be improved: The light in the room are really weak so the room was dim

  • Superb – Sandra from Netherlands – 24 May 2024 (9/10)

The staff was friendly and the breakfast was good. The rooms look even nicer than in the photos.
