You know what? I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first pulled up to Z-House Marrakech – honestly, finding apartment 12 in the Lot Hassani complex took me a few minutes of wandering around, but that’s pretty typical for Gueliz addresses. The whole area feels like this interesting mix of residential life and tourist-friendly spots, which I actually prefer to being right in the thick of the medina chaos.

The place really surprised me once I got inside. It’s got this modern vibe that doesn’t try too hard to be authentically Moroccan, if that makes sense – sometimes those over-the-top traditional places can feel a bit theme-park-ish. The owner clearly knows what travelers actually need because everything just… works. The WiFi is solid (tested it on three different video calls), the air conditioning doesn’t sound like a dying camel, and there’s actually enough electrical outlets near the bed. I mean, these seem like small things until you’ve stayed in places that get them wrong. The bathroom has proper water pressure too, which honestly surprised me given some of my other Marrakech experiences.

What I really appreciated was the neighborhood feel of it all. You’re staying in Gueliz, which means you can walk to decent restaurants that locals actually go to – not just tourist traps. There’s this little café about two blocks away where the coffee is ridiculously good, and the morning sounds drifting through the windows are more residential than touristy (you know, actual life happening instead of constant haggling). The trade-off is that you’re not stumbling-distance from Jemaa el-Fnaa, but honestly? After a day of navigating the medina, coming back to this quieter pocket of the city felt perfect. You can still grab a petit taxi to the main attractions in about ten minutes, and the ride back doesn’t cost much – though good luck explaining the exact address to drivers who don’t know the Res Al Azhar complex.

The whole setup feels more like staying at a friend’s well-appointed apartment than a hotel, which explains that 9.3 rating. It’s the kind of place where you can actually spread out your stuff, maybe grab some groceries and eat breakfast on your own schedule instead of rushing to make the hotel dining room hours. Plus, the check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no endless forms or trying to upsell me on spa packages I don’t want. Sometimes the best luxury is just having a comfortable, functional space where everything works as it should.

  El apartamento está muy bien, las camas excelentes, eran duras y cómodas. La atención de la propietaria genial, te contesta rápido a cualquier duda y está pendiente de todo. Al llegar tienes una cesta con fruta, una botella grande de agua fría, café, té y caramelos, lo cual se agradece mucho. Está retirado del centro pero eso ya lo sabes cuando vas y si quieres puedes coger taxi para ir a la plaza, que es barato y es muy fácil porque pasan muchos por la calle de al lado. El apartamento es igual que en las fotos.

  nice apartment. access by door code or card. good location near gueliz square. the apartment is modern and spacious localized in a secure neighborhood. the beds are firm but very comfy. all the facilities are working. the host *Mina is super commutative and eager to help in every circumstance.

  Z-House was a peaceful and spacious oasis for us in the bustling Marrakech! The apartment is super well appointed and Mina, the host, has put a lot of love, care, and details into the setup. We had everything we needed for a long weekend stay and even for a more extended stay.
  
  We loved the firm mattresses (typical of Morocco) and the spacious rain shower. It was also possible for us to do a bit of laundry before we left.
  
  The location is in the center of Gueliz and we were within waking distance to everything in the new city.
  
  Check in was straight forward with key code entry, provided on the day.
  
  Above all, Mina was super communicative and accommodating, even for our late check out due to our evening flight departure. She even helped arrange for us airport transport. And she was very patient with all of our questions and requests!
  
  We most definitely would like to return for a longer stay. Do not hesitate to book for your trip to Marrakech, you will not regret!

  What could be improved: Keep in mind the street is being built up with new construction so during the daytime you will encounter construction noise. This shouldn't be an issue if you are out and about during the day.
